Written by a female member of another board I frequent. who despite not having much contact with her biological father has no hang up and is still loyal to the black man (unlike some here)
anyway happy fathers day peeps...I was treadted to breakfast in bed this morning and although it was only a small gestur. It made realise that the 40+ hours a week a buss my ass off at work doesnt go un-noticed.
Fathers I just wanted to take a moment and say Happy Father's day to all of you with children. I also wanted to take a second to let you know that you "the black father" are very much appreciated.
Some people always ask me, why I am so obligated and loyal to Black Men when they havent always been that way to me?
Let me explain to you with one sentence. It is because my father is black. And no I am not talking about my biological father, because I have only seen that man 2 times in my life. I am talking about the man who met my mom when she was 3 months pregnant with me. I am talking about the man that raised me and my brother and cared for us as his children. The man who adopted us and gave us his last name.
That man was not a white collar business man. He was an old 70's playa who turned in his playa card to work 35 years in a hospital to provide for us.
He drank and smoked until he was 55, then he quit. He had many doors closed in his face and has been looked down on from society. But in my eyes I only see his quiet strength and powerful shield of protection and love.
So again when some one asked me why am I so loyal to Black Men? I say because my father is black. And he alone in some way shape or form represents every black man here in America. So regardless of what ever may or will happen. I will always appreciate you Black Men. Because I Love My Father.
Happy Fathers Day !!
Oh yeah..I took my husband to the Strip Joint for fathers day. Just wanted to bring ya'll fathers a lil-lil Sumthin' Sumthin' after all...

HAPPY FATHERS DAY
and many many more blessed days to bond with your beloved children. For those who are not 'Fathers' yet, you too can make some young childs life more enhanced so that on this day they will celebrate you too.
  HAPPY FATHERS DAY

Thanks BP,
Great example from whoever the sister is.
I have to ask though, What is up with everyone?? How come whenever it's mothers or fathers day hardly anyone wants to acknowledge it?? For all the talk about why fathers have done us wrong and why men haven't been sticking by our children it's like we completely ignore the fact that there are STILL fathers here who ARE making a good contribution to their children's lives and DO show they care about what happens to them. Brothers how come you aren't representing either? And when we do put message up to wish you a good day everybady a peep peep. WHY??
You know what don't even bother to answer the questions. Carry on peeping Sorry to start with a rant but chaaaaa.
I'd personally like to big up and say a
HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL THE FATHERS

Maybe because most people who truly value their parents don't need to wait for one day a year to show it? Mother's Day, Father's Day and all those days are just designed to get people's money, because really if you are a good father (or mother) or you have a good father (or mother) you can show your appreciation or be appreciated for that every single day of the year. It shouldn't take the greeting card industry to tell you that you have parents and that you need to show them you love and appreciate them.
Just like Christmas, whether or not you are a Christian, why do you need to wait until the 25th of December to buy a friend or family member a gift?? In fact it's much easier and makes more sense to buy gifts whenever you see something they would like or you see a bargain (and can afford it) for the people you care about. That is what I do and so I feel no pressure at Christmas to stretch myself trying to buy X amount of gifts in the 3 wks run up to Xmas. People won't think you are tightfisted because they didn't get a Christmas present from you, if they know that you give them presents for no reason at all any time of year.
The problem with Christmas shopping was that I found I rarely had extra money at that time, but because of all the hype felt compelled to spend more than I usually would in an average month. Anyway I done with that now, that was what I used to do before I learnt sense.
So, my point is everyone who has a mother and a father they love and appreciate needs to make more of an effort all year round to SHOW them that they are loved and appreciated - not wait for one day to come around.
Unless it's their birthday and then you can really push the boat out!
