Couple launch TV revolution, 11.6.07
A husband and wife team are set to make UK history by launching the first ever television station aimed at black British viewers.
Former singer Caroll Thompson and radio presenter and journalist Dotun Adebayo (both) have pumped more than £100,000 into Colour Telly, which will hit our television screens from 1 July.
The station, which will initially be internet based will be available online 24 hours a day.
A host of well-known African Caribbean faces, including actress Sandra Bee of Brothers and Sisters fame and former Casualty actor Patrick Robinson, will be featured in a variety of programmes ranging from story-telling for children to black history documentaries. Adebayo is also the co-owner of publishing company X Press that has released a series of best-selling novels including Patrick Augustus’ Babyfather.
The renowned book was televised by the BBC and Colour Telly will be continuing the storyline with daily broadcasts.
Adebayo told New Nation: ‘There has never been anything like this. Everyone has been crying out for it because we really need a black British station.
‘We only have music channels for black British people so Colour Telly will also give something for our young children to watch.
‘The other black stations are aimed at a different market and the only other thing available is music channels, so Colour Telly will change all this.’ Thompson, dubbed the Queen of Lovers Rock thanks to a string of hit singles including Hopelessly in Love, will not only be behind the scenes but will host a womens’ lifestyle programme that will include special guests and topical discussions. ‘We will initially broadcast four hours of unique programmes that will repeat six times during the day,’ said Adebayo. ‘Colour Telly will be television without prejudice and once we have 10,000 subscribers we will approach the satellite providers about broadcasting on television. ‘For just 30p people can receive four hours of great black British programmes. This is all about us. This television channel can show what we as an African Caribbean community can do as a team.’ Colour Telly is keen to hear from actors, journalists, models, production workers and anyone who has the skills needed to make the television channel a success. Adebayo said: ‘If you want to be part of history contact me, I can guarantee paid work for a minimum six months.’ If you are interested in joining Colour Telly, would like to subscribe, or would like to advertise on the pioneering channel you can contact Dotun Adebayo on 020 8368 2526 or email info@colourtelly.tv. Colour Telly is available for subscribers only by visiting http://www.colourtelly.tv.

| Why is he a pimp? It sounds positive. Could you please shed more light on these allegations as I was about to sign up, I want to help them get their 10 thousand subscribers. It sounds family orientated and it doesn't look like they'll be putting negative stuff on there

@Babygirl
I think MGL is talking about tthe eurocentric mindset of Dotun Adebayo. To understand all you have to do is listen to his bbc radio 94.9fm show on sundays 8 -10pm

@ Stickup Kid
What are you on about, I don't always come up with conspiracy theories, I think you have me confused with someone else.
I have posted a thread about this Colourtelly TV already. I will watch it when it launches, to see how it goes. I am espacially curious about the black documentaries.
Its not about putting down black people with success. I am simply quite cautious of Dotun Adebayo. I have listened to his BBC show and it really annoys me how he seizes every opportunity to belittle Africa espacially his own country Nigeria. When he gets into discussion about Nigeria he puts on this really annoying accent. He deals with issues concerning Black people with such an ignorant attitude.

.lol. Is a lame name.
I'm giving them the benifit of the doubt, apparently theres also a lot of connections being made in the media industry as well, diffrent groups are linking together, like the colourful network and others.
SUPPORT THEM! They might change the name with enough pressure.
