Personally, I can see where they were going, and I like a 'different' approach.......but I wonder whether it's too abstract to be credible to a global audience - wouldn't easily connect this to London. Suspect it won't survive in its current form.

For me it's not the logo in itself. It's the money. A think tank, a quango, an "independant" inquiry, advisers, consultants... New Labour has seen the growth of these things and the ridicolous waste of money on thin air flowery jargon led bullsh*t speech in the last decade. This is why institutions like the NHS and railways are falling to pieces. Wasteman money on fancy trendy, flavour of the month bollocks charlatans, snake oil merhcants and honey tongued conmen.
Why would a drawing cost hundreds of thousands? Even if it were a good drawing... why?

Is it just me, or does the new London 2012 logo look a bit like the Nazi SS insignia?

Wasn't it the animinated graphics of the logo in the promotional video that caused the epileptic fits, not the still design?
Nonetheless, for half that money I would have done them a kicking design that the majority of the public would have loved, far better than that jungled up cr*p. Ok, maybe I would have cheated and got my 6 year old to do it, but the result would still be a vast improvement.
