I don't like Reggaeton Music! I think its a cheap spin off, off reggae music. i know that the music is really energetic, but to be honest it is something that i don't feel and dont think i will ever buy!

Reggaeton is not that bad - exaggeration! Yes the beats are the same but its really not that bad. At least it unites all the latinos worldwide...lol.

I like Oye mi Canto, Reggaeton Latino, Gasolina, and hips don't lie.banana.gif

Gasolina, has got to be the worst reggaeton song ever made! the high pitched, irritating repetiton of 'Gasolina' throughout the chorus, is sickening. Anytime that tune came/comes on I reach for the remote control quick time!

Well said, besides all the beats sound the same and I'm not fluent in Spanish so I don't even know what the hell they're talking about!

I really can't believe what all of you are saying:shock:

Reggeaton has been around for at least 20 years from the late 80's belive me, I have loved reggeton since i was like 11!! But at that time no one knew about it well those who werent latin, ma friends used to take the piss even when we used to play merengue...I would only play the music around my latin cousins...for obvious reasons...It was just hyped up by norega and nina sky with Oye mie Canto...borruca morena, domincano, cubano, mexicano...etc

Reggeaton actually started in Panama, when i think a lot jamicans were moving to the country to build some canal...then Puerto Rico, but them Ricans have got the game, its now just too big... If anyone has been to Maimi or New york in the spring/summer and witnessed like a fiesta/sunsplash type of festival? You will see what Reggeaton, reggae, Soca, bashment, etc...is all about because they mix it up with all the reggeton stars from DR, PR, Cuba etc...reggae stars from jamaica, plus all the soca stars from the Trinidad, barbados etc...just a heavy electric caribbean mix...

Reggeton is the expression of being young and from a latin/caribbean background, talking about issues such as sex, poverty, money, cars, women u know usual stuff. Reggaeton is a distincitve product of reggae everyone knows that...way back in the day when jamaican artist used to travel all over the spanish speaking part of the caribbean and migrate to the different islands for shows etc, they left the locals lovin reggae!!

So they just created thier own added a little spanish tounge, with some bomba and a sick beat and bam u have people like Ivy Queen <<< the best love her so much and Don Omar...

Please don't eva diss Reggeton again...lol

One love

Mz Price

It is still crap and a poor imitation.

A bit like what 'trip-hop' (or whatever it is called) is to hip-hop. Listen to bands like Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit etc

*Though Linkin Park have some decent tunes

What are u on about? They did not "kidnap" west indian music but developed it. It came from Panama and Puerto Rico and as far as I am concerned P rico is in the caribbean.

Why can't we black ppl learn to appreciate this? Black caribbean and americans love and allow the "latinized" thing to take over any way.

It unites latinos - thats what. Other caribbean popular should do that more. niceone.gif

Im sorry if u like that kind of music then thats fine, but I dont business if it unites latinos or not, to me it sounds cheap and rips off dancehall.

I'm appreciative of all kinds of music, whether its pop, rock, jazz, ragga, hip hop.  Some reggaeton tunes are alright, and for the person who said they can't understand spanish the same could be said for some music that is done in english.

Exactly, whether it unites them is neither here nor there to me, besides 'other Caribbeans' unite when it comes to soca and reggae/bashment.
