Then u should have stated that. You posting that site with no real explanation came across as if u were trying to stirring.

@Ladydelite
Girl, from my experience the last thing you want to add to your thoughts whilst at uni and away from home is thought of your significant other because it has happened to me.
To be honest I'm not doin to well at the moment at uni and its because my mind is wrestling with the thoughts of a relationship which I had. Throughout my years at uni myself and this girl have tried to sort things out but its taken so much of my time and has tired me emotionally, which is the last thing you want when you want your brain to be on top form. The worst thing is being how many hours drive away from that person. It doesnt make good for sleep when that person is in your head all night and results in you getting too little sleep and decreased concentration.
Just know that you are there for the time to get that ish (degree) and for nothing else. After that you can think about man as much as you want !

Care to give an inkling as to what the site was about. I'd understand if you wouldn't want to as Blackbeauty seems so sensitive about it.

@The GreyMan: It's a website that highlights the ignorance of white people in their attitudes and behaviour towards black people or you could see it as being racist, which was my first initial thought. The site was recommended by my lecturer for my race and representation seminar.
I don't want to give out the address as Black Beauty was not impressed and thought that I was trying to stir up trouble. Sorry mate as I think you should see it.
Peace
January Kitty

Just read through some of these replies and real interesting too.
Can't believe I'm not alone in feeling like I'm in the wrong place when I'm at uni. Would be good to hear from the UCL or University of London peeps. Just finished 4yrs at UCL and still barely know any black people cos they all so unfriendly and stand-offish.
I remember going to some ACS event once and got looked down on cos I didn't grow up in London and spoke differently. Funny tho, cos I thought the point of ACS was for BLACK people to meet, not London people!
Anyhow, hope all you students enjoy your holidays, make the most of your time at uni and get what you want out of life. Getting into uni shows you have some drive and intelligence.
Please don't waste it.

Hi i'm at UCL and i felt the exactly same thing. I also grew up outside london and thought that the ACS would be my source of black people since there were virtually none at school. I went to things a couple of times and I got same treatment, not the right accent so not spoken to. Its a shame, though i go into my third year in Sept and i'm gonna try going again. What did you study? have you found a job yet?

lol Obal 85 !!......Its easy...Opening 2 lines in the Nominative Tense then the next 2 in the Accusative then we progressed to the Genetive b4 moving back via the Pluperfect to the Dative......Memories of Herr Neuen-Baumer slapping me(or any other pupil!) hard round the face if we got anything basic wrong at Age 12....!.....I wonder how the Guys today would fancy that during an ordinary lesson in a South London State School which is what we had to contend with.....

wasup peeps, studying psychology at leicester uni, jus to try and answer the why r there no black ppl at top unis (plz rember this is my opinion, i am entitled to it, u dnt have to agree).
1st a lot of black (the majority) of black ppl going through uk education system r fed up with education bythe time uni comes around, and then those that do (on a whole) seem not to aspire high enough to want to go to the top unis.most of my peeps are doing courses at second rate unis. still they r furthering themselves so lets not knock it.
2nd in my experience, a lot of the black ppl who do go to uni and are from london want to get out! i am 1! londons great but i believe that ppl, especially black folk should live outside for a while to broaden their horizon. it would seem like a few peeps agree with me. the black student population in the midlands is rising every year.
3rd a lot of peeps are willing to settle for going into work, if thats the way forward then good on them, rember uni aint for evry1.
for those of us who are going, top uni or second rate lets makeit count.
bless

1)Is anybody already attending or about to start at Kings College in London.
2)Is anybody doing a MPharmacy degree?
Basically need to know what is the Uni like, the atmosphere and If i am better off staying in the campus to live the experience or stay with parents.
Also how hard is the degree and any useful tips.

Hiya, I'm at Goldsmiths College studying computing. There are about 15/75 black people in my course. But all the black people try and hurd 2gether, I hate that 'hey we're black lets hurd around!' thing. There are alot of asians and whites are as few as the black people. But I go to the ACS and there a lot of the people dn't even want to mingle, so what's the point of forming a group for black people to mix 2gether, when they are not going to when put together?
__________________________________________________________________
They dont want to mingle with ya or you dont want to mingle with them? sorry, you were outnumbered and you should do the mingling and not the other way round.

Hello @ Lucia - I think the 'best' uni to study psychology at largely depends on the areas of psychology you're interested in and also what you want to do with your degree when you finish... (if you've thought that far ahead?)
All psychology degrees (which receive accreditation from the BPS) have to offer certain core units in order to ensure their graduates are eligible for graduate basis membership to the society (this is very important if you intend having a career in psychology so do check), but beyond this, many institutions (or the degrees offered by them) have particular strengths and emphasize different areas of psychology more; for example, your degree could have an emphasis on neuroscience, applied psychology, forensic, sports psychology, psychology with criminology, psychology with counsellings - the list goes on! I believe a big factor in determining the best place for you to study will be in ensuring you choose the institution at which you are most likely to enjoy the course you take to the max! Its an exciting time in psychology with more choice than ever before, use it to your advantage and choose well.
Your best bet may be to have a look at the bps web site (Uni's web pages) and get a better idea of whether the place itself sounds like it would be right for you. There should also be links to psychology student sites on the BPS pages, these student sites are fairly well established and may prove useful in contacting other students who may be able to give advice on their particular place of study.
Hope this helps, and good luck

@Lucia - I'd posted the bps web page address above but its not allowed and came up with "unis web pages!" - the above last paragraph should read something like - "your best bet is probably to have a look a the BPS web pages at the tons of courses they have to offer, then once you've decided on the actual psychology course, check out the relevant university prospectuses to see which of the institutions offering the course is right for you - (the bps web address ends .org.uk, just in case you didn't already know!)"
Good luck
Peace
