I am going to start a history degree this september. I would love to go into the field of teaching in a secondary school or become a lecturer. I have been recently considering a career as a lecturer, more so that being a secondary school teacher. This decision, however became more substantive when i met this young African female, who was in the process of doing a PHD, and has palns on becoming a lecturer. She was formerly a teacher, and basically broke it down for me, about what being a secondary teacher entails, and what being a lectuer entails.
As i have a natural love for history, particular pan African history, ever since i was young, i would love to become a lecturer in this area. I just wanted to know if anyone knows of any in this country, as i know in America it is common. Or is it, when studying the history of African history people wherever in the dispora, it is studied by breaking the dispora into separate sections, and studing them as an indivdual discipline? I am doing my research into this, i just wanted help form other people into this.
Thanks!

@ marcusgarveylives
sorry i will rephrase the question. I basically wanted to know if anyone knew any pan-african history lecturers in the country, that teach African history within diaspora, e.g histroy of the caribbean, south America, North America and Africa, covering topics like slavery, early civilizations ect. The reason i ask is becasue i have a huge interest in this subject area, and i am considering after my degree, to become a history lecturer in this area.
The other question was, is it less common for this to be a whole discipline in itself, because a lot of History degree programmes, or courses, split African diasporic history up, e.g African history is studied as a separate discipline, so is caribbean history and so on.
hope that sounds clearer!
