My sister is at nursing school right now, and former gf is a nurse.
Nursing is the #1 looked career in the US, right now. If you are a good one, the pay isn't bad, plus they give bonuses before you even start the hospital work. The need for nursing students is very great in the states.
High school gf, works at HCMC, that's the largest hospital in MN, and here is what she told me. She works at the ER, making $24 and hour, plus weekend and nights. Her recruitement bonus was $5000, and her signing bonus was $10000. She graduated last yr.
How much U paid, and the rest depend on the location of the hospital or the care center. First make sure you do very good research before U move, and consult with other agencies who specialize this. Nurses also work dependetly, where they open their own home health care for adults and those with PTS, and these make more.
One more thing, first finish school in the UK before U move here, the good nursing schools are very small, and those who let U in, may not teach U as they should.

Also in nursing school right now, the pay is all depending on what type of nurse you are, where your located, and how much education you have
CNA (certified nursing assistant)- they make around $10- $14 a hr <only requires the cna certificate to be a CNA; takes only around 2 weeks to complete the course> No High School Diploma/GED required !!!
RN (Registered Nurse)- they make $20-$40 a hr < requires 2-yr associates degree the least>
LPN (licensed pratical nurse)- they make a little bit more the CNA, but not a whole lot much difference (in my opinion) ....like $15-$17 <requires acouple months to complete course & training) IN SOME STATES IN THE U.S, you HAVE to be a CNA first to become a LPN
hope that helped a little
