Wise Words Poetry Summit

Informing on the past, and guiding the new to the future

An Extra-ordinary gathering of talented minds of some of the most profound spoken word artists of the 20th and 21st century.  Hear from the wordsmiths who have carved open the most vibrant underground scene over the last 20 years. As they continue to push boundaries, Wise Words will be another chapter for the history books.

Join these inspirational artists as they put down the performance and engage in challenging conversation that will help shape the future of performance poetry.

Panels will include Representatives from Black Pepper, Arts Council, Progressive Entertainment, Soul Food, Best Kept Secret, Adisa, Amani Naphtali, Floetic Lara, Ebele, Jacob Sam-la Rose, shortMAN, Urban Spirit, Poetry in Motion, Nii Ayikwei-Parkes, Carl Ramsey and many, many more.

FOLLOWING THE HISTORIC SUMMIT WILL BE A ONE NIGHT SPECIAL DOUBLE BILL:

1) RETURN OF THE LEGENDARY SOUL FOOD

2) GROUND BREAKING POETIC THEATRICS OF BEST KEPT SECRET

What is the future?
Is this the best there is?
Will the elder poets help us?
Where are there elder poets?

Are we on our own?
Can I live off my art?
Can I be political and be supported?

PANEL DISCUSSIONS INCLUDE:

FUNDING

POLITICS AND THE POET

EDUCATION AND POETRY

WOMEN IN POETRY

GENERATIONS- HOW TO PROGRESS IN THE ARTFORM
