I am coming to the UK(London) at the end of the month , and am looking for somewhere I could go and have a nice time, with nice music and mature cool crowd , I read about Poetry N motion from ukfridays.com and was wondering if anyone has gone for any of their events before ? or if you could suggest a place for me...
thanks

I have been to the Poetry in Motion and its very good...brilliant...but it can get VERY packed since its one of the only few places where most decent blacks in London hang out......so be early if you want to get a good seat....there is a bar so you won't have to sit there waiting in boredom.
PS: Its quite Afrocentric, so unless you are into that, don't bother.....underwise you'll spend your evening being very uncomfortable....

No sorry, i don't know what you mean....whats *black*?? I am African and i use the word black VERY loosely......when i say Afrocentric, i mean its a place where the poetry is in tune with my Pan African line...not useless Urban(which you'll find in places where they say black poetry) mumbo jumbo.....and those kinds of places seems to be like the only place where ALL the London coconuts hangs out......now why would a pro *black*(Afrocentric, Pan African...whatever you want to call it) like me be seen dead in places like that?
Hope that explains it......lol

Yup it sure does, I have been in places where its meant to be Afrocentric, but all I see is Black guys with dreads white ass girlfriend thinking they are down, with the culture and so called Black ladies with their german boyfriend, who happens to love underground hip hop... and understand Black culture becuase they have been to kenya....
Maybe I should visit Poetry in Motions...

I LOVE Poetry n Motion....and the ones on the Bank Holiday are the BEST...did anybody go last sunday? Aug 28th? there was like 1000 people...and NO trouble..not even attitude....and they were giving out flyers saying that they are moving it to Tiger Tiger for Bank holiday...apparently they are going to try to have a new jazz set as well as a poetry set in a different room....we will see...ta xx
