Here is a southern staple. It is called pound cake because you use a pound of every ingredient more or less. It is good. If you like strawberry cake I have a recipe that I've used that is very good and easy.
MOM'S POUND CAKE
Chef: Eleanor Logan
chef and caterer
Ingredients
All ingredients should be room temperature.
3 sticks of butter
3 cups of sugar
3 cups of cake flour
6 extra large eggs
1 tablespoon each of vanilla extract, lemon extract, & butter extract
8 ounces of whipping cream
Directions
Preheat oven to 325-degree temperature.
.
In a mixer, cream together the butter and the sugar until mixed well, and light "yellow" in color.
Begin by adding a cup of cake flour, then 2 eggs. Mix well. Alternate between 1 cup cake flour and 2 eggs until all flour and eggs are incorporated and mixed well.
Add all of the extracts and mix for another 2 minutes.
Turn off the mixer. Stir in the 8 ounces of heavy cream. Stir for 1 minute.
Pour cake mixture into the prepared cake pan. (Use a non-stick spray and/or butter to "prepare" pan).
Bake for 1 and 1/2 hours.
DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR TO PEEK!
. Serve with fresh berries. Enjoy!
