I m glad this topic got dug up again

as ya'll know i had a baby boy towards end of last year. anyway i breastfed him exclusively for the first few months

I breastfed wherever i was and he needed feeding. i sat in somerfields breastfeeding him . I refuse to let my baby starve dehydrate stomach pains cos of a few people who think his feeding session should be behind closed doors.

i dont really like seeing adults feed in public too much goo oozing out ya mouths lol

but i will breastfeed again and if baby hungry its coming out. plus you dont see nothing more than cleavage.

oh yeah i fed him on a train too. i did see a bloke sort of looking descreetly but turned away when i saw him.

you dont really see breast unless someone has taking breast completely out.

Its natural form of feeding..breastfed babies suffer least amount of gripe and colic etc

bottles are un natural and babies often full of gripe as bare air gets inside them

BREASTFEED WHEREVER WHENEVER BABY SAYS SO

plus breastfed babies arent on timers they tend to demand feed and only take what they want at that time. so you couldhave fed baby before you left house and before you know baby wants more...

I think i need to make some pro breast feeding t-shirts!!!!!

if i wasnt going back to work i would have delayed introducing bottles. nuff people were telling me to perservere with breats feeding

BREAST IS BEST

At Ladydayclp)clp)clp)well said.  I breast feed my son untill he was two.  Man you would think I was a child abuser the response I got  from some people. People would say to me "Do you really think you should be still feeding your baby aged two,and in public too." and "Are you sure it's not for your benefit rather than the babys."  In response anyone who has a brain and has breast fed a baby with teeth knows its not going to be for the mums benefit.  I am so sick of the backwards westernised mentality blkheadbangwhich thinks is natural for women to flash there breasts on the TV or in the papers but unnatural to breast feed in public, I mean what is that all about?????confused3

@ Lady  When do you plan to stop breast feeding??

Saw a programme the other day and i felt the women on that programme gave breastfeeding a bad name, they were all FREAKS and the kids were freaks too!

A two year old is way beyond the age i'd take it too, but to each their own.  It seems slightly uncomfortable to see a child grabbing at its mothers breast for food, 2 is ok i guess but some ofo the kids i saw on this programme were like 7 8 or 9 for f's sake!

Also on this C4 programme was a llady who had an 18mth old baby and then adopted an 2 year old ffom an asian country and proceeded to shove her narsty saggin breast into the lil kids mouth, no matter how he screamed at the sight of the thing, she proceeded to force herself upon the youth citing "breast is best"  that must be assault or ABH or something!?:?

Funnily enough my friend asked me this question this evening.

I'm afraid I'm chicken. I could never just "whip it out" when I'm out. The main reason is because my son fights to get on the breast at the best of times, and there is no way I'd want people to see my nipple being shoved down his throat for him to latch on to!

Most places I go to have a Baby room, and I feed him in there if I have no bottles.

FizzyB,

....breastfeeding at 2 years old? When they have TEETH????

No suh!

Melissa,

WOW! I'm surprised at how many people are against it. I've heard this topic come up quite a lot recently and find it quite funny. It's almost as though people thinking that is wrong to feed your child when it needs feeding NOT when you just so happen to see it, is going to make you deprive your child.

When you have a screaming child outside you are a problem for not being able to keep your child quiet but if s/he needs feeding you don't want us to stop them cry. How that work??

Not all babies take to the bottle straight away and therefore the bottle is not an option.

When you have to register your childs birth and go for your check ups this too is very early, again the bottle is not an option.

There's so much more that could be said about it but there's a line that has to be drawn when it comes to how each parent is raising their children.

I breastfed all my children whether I was outside or not. Breastfeeding too much after the teeth come was a no no. I always covered up but that's because I too have respect for my body sothat brothers like BP can't catch a peep LOL. Also feeding till all 7 and 8 is madness. I didn't get to see that programme but saw an ad forit and the big child in the lap did look a bit mix up!

I'm a guy and I'm not offended by it, not because I'm happy to stare at their breats I hasten to add. Although if I was speaking to a woman, and she took out her breast to feed her child I WOULD be slightly uncomfortable, but I daresay I would get over it. As long as its done discreetly breastfeeding in public really shouldn't be an issue. A baby's gotta feed after all.

Well theres a definate difference between being offended and being uncomfortable as far as this is concerened. If you're offended by this then you may as well be offended by the rain falling and the grass growing. In short- its all nature. I guess it could be uncomfortable for some people because thats just the way some people are. As long as they arnt passing jugdgment then its call. I personally don't think I would breastfeed in public if i was a mother simply because I couldn't stand the thought of other people looking and staring. But I don't think anyone should be judged fo dong so. Its your perogative to do what you think is best for your child.

Omg i can't believe we're even talking about this ,i mean some babies only like maternal milk ,what is she suppose to do? It is so sad that some men are able to see a woman other than in a sexual way it's digusting.

Wtf the woman is feeding her baby , are you obliged to look at her?

Seriously this makes me sick even thinking about it's like if one day  my baby will be hungry and crying and and i should care about some men checkin out my boobs?!!! If you have a dirty mind it's your problem.....

come on people babies get hungry what is the mum supposed let the baby carry on crying just because people are sensitive in my opinion there is nothing wrong it but I would advise to take a shawl with them for those sensitive souls out there.

sorry

but  a grown ass man or woman being offended is not the agends at all , it is the baby needs a feed, end off - who cares about anyone else.  jeeez you think the woman is flashing
__________

I think that about sums it up for me.

With all due respect to those who are against. It is easy to speak about things you do not know....I'm telling you...the amount of things I've learnt from motherhood makes me glad I didn't have too many illusions about what it would be like in reality.

The very same case of the screaming child to me at one point did make the thought to "shut the child up" come to mind...but then as a parent you know it isn't as straight forward. Any parent can tell you that....in fact so could yours...tell me you neva memba the look when you were acting up....and if you carried on you did fraid fi go home LMAO. We as children certain times aint easy! *shakes head*

I just wrote this long ass post and my finger brushed against something and it’s disappeared!!! Argh - and why is this site so slow!!! Anyway that’s enough of the complaining!!!

The long and short of what I was saying was breastfeeding can be done so no one can see a thing. All it requires is a shall or scarf or blanket or coat.

Breastfeeding provides freedom to mothers to be able to go out and get much needed fresh air for her and the child without the added organisation and planning of bottles. I know may sound trivial to those who don’t know but those who know - KNOW!!! That puts many people off of going out. When your exhausted things need to be simple and breast is natures offering to help keep things simple. How can you go and start telling people that’s wrong.

My cousin has 10month old twin boys and one of the jobs I hate the most is washing bottles. It’s so repetitive and mundane. And what happens for babies who wont drink milk unless it’s warm - how you gonna heat up a bottle in the middle of a long walk in the park or something like that!! Does that mean you shouldn’t go out for exercise!!!??

Breastfeeding is the most natural and healthy option for a baby and I cant believe people are complaining about a mother nursing. Would complainers rather she starve him.

I understand being confronted a huge nipple while relaxing on your journey home can be a little unsettling but it’s not the end of the world. Just divert your attentions and move on - forget about it!! There are more important things to worry about than a baby’s dinner!! It’s the mothers way of doing things and unless she’s being really over the top your blowing how air. I know I would rather that than having a screaming baby for 45 min bus ride. How unnesseacay and stressful would that be!! Those who know - KNOW!!!

I personally wont be going anywhere without my shall. (I’m 8 weeks with my first)  It will be in with my nappies and stuff. But I believe each to their own and mothers just need to be left to get on with being a mother. It’s hard enough as it is without having to worry about offending ppl who then go home to read the sun newspaper with the naked models anyway!!!!

Breast is BEST!!!!! banana.gif
