Q;Would you, when on holiday, leave your 3yr old child alone and check on her every half an hour??

As soon as the abduction case in Portugal is solved should these parents be arrested and strung up???

Boy, I thought only my Hubby was the cynical one!

I didn't want to comment because the child hasn't been found, but the longer it goes on the fishier it smells....and apparently the Portuguese police aren't exactly making the search a priority.....

my mind didnt even think about the possibilityt that the story may have been fabricated.  im just so mad that (if true) they left the child alone.

they knew the child should not have been alone otherwise they would not have kept checking her, yet neither of the parents decided to miss going to the meal - they should have taken the kids or got a friggin take away.  also there were twin babies alone with the girl, so potentially there could have been three abductees.

i wouldnt even have left a 13yo alone because who knows what weirdo hotel staff with a key to the room would notice you leaving without her.

i sincerely hope the little girl is ok because, as much as i think the parents deserve to see the consequences of their foolish and selfish actions, the baby does not deserve to die because her parents were neglectful.

social services should get involved and take the twins into care.  my mum was saying that if it were a working class family instead of a doctor (i think) they would have focused more on the neglect of the child and made a point of saying if they were unemployed, on benefits etc

Trust me.....something definitely is up. I've been saying for days that I smell foul play in the whole thing. Two supposed intelligent professionals, while in a foreign country, leave their child alone to go and eat across the road and somebody just happens to choose the right moment to go in and abduct a toddler. Plus there were no signs of forced entry in the room they were staying.

One of the parents probably did something to the pickney.

Its a bit late for what ifs?  very painful for any parent to lose a child, despite the circumstances that led to the incident and even more painful for the child to be separated from their parents and comfort zone. I pray Maddy is alright.

Teams of officers with sniffer dogs are scouring what one called a "sinister" area called Black Rock near sea cliffs just over a mile from the resort where the youngster was snatched on Thursday.
The search was redirected as the detective leading the hunt said his team had a good idea who the kidnapper was — and that he believes Maddie may still be ALIVE.
CAN YOU HELP?

Very fishy indeed......  Im watching this one closely.

Even worse that the hotel has a babysitting service and they refused it!

Who goes on holiday - or anywhere for that matter and leaves 3 toddlers alone!?

Im amazed the the UK press can only slate the portugese police for not acting quicker, the parents should be shot!

Le Moor, the hotel even provided a creche and the parents didn't use it.  That just doesn't sit well with me.  Leaving a 3 year old alone in a hotel room for half an hour.

Something ain't right.  I agree with BP

I do wonder about people in this day an age...I wouldn't even let my 8yr old play on the drive or outside without my supervision, I don't even let her out of my sight when we go shopping...for the simple fact that I don't want to end up on telly crying for the safe return of my child....I mean it's not like those 2 parents lived in a country where aduction doesn't happen..how many times have they sat at home and watched this happen to another parent in uk..what made them think it was safe to do so abroad...I'm sure we all sincerely pray for this child to be found safe and well...but like many like me the 1st thought that went to my head was 'what the hell is wrong with those parents!.

It is a little suspicious. I mean, who in their right frame of mind would think about leaving 3 children alone and going to eat dinner .. It just dosen't add up. No sane person would do it. Personally I could not sit through my meal without worrying.. it just don't add up .. OK, so the police service are only searching 9 miles from the hotel.. But c'mon, the people who took the child would be more than 9 miles out .. things are kinda strange .. I pray for that child, but I have a strong feeling she's alive

i agree with all those that think something is up with th ewhole story.  I personally thought that the parents killed the child and are now making a fuss.

If not, then we should ask the question why the hell did you leave young children at home to go out on a date with each other?

Also im sure if they were not white or professionals the media would have been calling the parenting skills into question an the headlines would be condemnation.  i guess if you're white and middle class its a simplae mistake to make!

The story just sounds a bit 'iffy'

I'm not defending the parents here but before anyone start pointing fingers and saying that parents are to blame here, can any parent here really say with their hand on their heart and say that they keep a eye on their kids 24/7? Just picture the scene.

All it just take is you to just turn your back for a few second and your child has decided to go wandering off.

In relation to the story I hope that the kid is found alive and well.

you just wouldnt leave your child alone in a foreigtn country standard. them being doctors does not remove  their neglect.

the windows were just shutters aswell which can easily be broken into

i am not being funny but its not for the portuguese police to prioritise the missing child over other missing children. i am sure they are doing what they can. alot more than what would be done if there was no media circus surrounding this.

i do hope they find the child alive though

MCP...I can say hand on heart, because i've taken my children on holiday abroad and in this country.. That i did not and would not have left a group of toddlers unsupervised at night..regardless of where i intended to be...

3 years old is way too young..any parent knows that unless your children sleeps solidly throughout the night.. you are asking for serious trouble doing that..then leaving children of that age ALONE on a ground floor apartment is asking for trouble..

When i first heard the story, i thought the other 2 children in the room were older brothers or sisters in their teens or something.

But 3 babies? You dont leave 3 babies in a room alone. My 9 year old brother isnt even allowed to play on our drive.

But I agree with what people are saying if it was a single mother or indeed any normal working class family, if they pissed off to nandos down the road and left 3 babies alone imagine the hype.

Its quite unfair to criticise the parents because they are obviously going through a hard time right now and im sure they too are kicking themselves but I just cant understand why they would leave children alone.

If they wanted me time there are 100 different things they could have done.  No sane person in their right mind would do that and they just need to hope to God that their little girl is safe and that the other 2 children are to.

I hope the story has a good ending. Either way they need to review their parenting skills.

Ditto to one of the parents being behind this abduction - my theory; after the twins came along Maddie became too much of a handful...the Dad took care of his business... I blame the neighbourhood.

For real though... I also thought leaving them at such young ages was unbelievable:?...and my suspicions went to the Dad...

Maddie, May the good lord bless you...'Suffer little children to come unto me'

£1m reward in hunt for Madeleine

A businessman has offered a reward of £1 million to anyone that can provide information that leads to the return of missing toddler Madeleine McCann.

Stephen Winyard, owner of a Scottish health spa called Stobo Castle, made the offer through The Times.

The proposal has reportedly been passed on to the McCann family in Praia da Luz, but it is currently unclear whether the country's laws will allow the offer to be formally put to the public.

It is not the first reward to be offered in the case. On Saturday a colleague of Madeleine's mother offered a £100,000 reward for help in finding the three-year-old.

Mr Winyard, a 57-year-old father-of-three who lives in Monaco, said he was moved to come forward by photographs of Madeleine's distraught parents.

He told the Times: "When I saw their faces, I felt frustrated that no one else had yet come forward offering a substantial reward, and so felt compelled to do so myself."

Earlier, Portuguese police said in a news conference that the search for Madeleine, who was abducted in a holiday resort a week ago, was coming to an end. The Policia Judiciaria said the search had not yet been called off but conceded that it was being wound down.

Chief Inspector Olegario Sousa said that a 200 kilometre (125 mile) square area had been searched, with each area covered more than once by search, rescue and dog teams.

Madeleine's parents, Gerry and Kate, were interviewed by police in Portimao along with friends. But police emphasised that they were not under any suspicion.
