any advice
the 1st one look sturdy yet affordable. mos important thing is the internal harness as i thinks it will be more comfortable then the cars own seat belt

| I'm not sure about those car seats you posted. I got the Britax First Class one. It was suitable from birth and has different seating positions. Its easily installed also. It is much more expensive than that but i've had no problems with it. It last up until 5 years. Its VERY sturdy. also you must check it fits into your car. Call the company, they have a list of cars it can fit

I checked at Which? for the best seats, and Britax score very highly.
I wouldn't buy them from Argos though....check out Amazon, Pricerunner and even eBay for good deals. Also check out sites like Kiddicare for savings.
Brownstar,
Your car seat is top of my list at the moment, but still looking.....

Went into Mothercare today to check out the car seats....
The Britax ones were good - if you don't have leather seats. Apparently, the mechanism can damage them, so beware.
The Maxicosi Tobi we were looking at, although scores highly with Which?, I don't think is worth the £180 they're charging (Kiddicare did a black one for £145 on offer). It's difficult to instal - not good if you have to move from car to car like us.
Still looking.....

Have to agree Britax is very good. I have 2, one for a 5 yr old and one for a 3 yr old.
You really do need to try the out in your own car b4 u buy. Get your child to sit in it try the safety beltsand harnesses, see how easily they recline for a sleeping child.
Other considerations - how easy are the covering to remove and wash?
Side impact features
and head sheild / protection.
The good thing with mothercareis that you can try them out instore in the dummy car and take them out to your care and staff show you how to fit in your on vehicle.
Halfords also do a try and buy service - with good advice.
But Britax def get my vote... maybe a little more pricey..... but you are paying for quality and comfort.... some of the ther seats tended to be very tough to sit on
