Many of us come from large families with 3 kids or more.
But are we gonna go on to have big families?
Is it even important to have any kids?
I think we need to increase our numbers by having at least 3 kids, especially if your financial situation affords it.
Other races (asians!)are having mini football teams in practically every marriage but are we falling behind??
How many kids dya think you gonna have??

I feel a big KICK coming soon....
Anyway, nowadays you can't afford to have too many children. Everything is so expensive, from food and clothes to childcare.
I know my parents had it tough, but I think it was easier then. Mum & Dad don't do "credit" & I looked after my brother and sister during holidays and after school when Dad was on "middles".
I have 3 children of 18, 7 and 4 months, and right now although it's a struggle it isn't worth my while going back as childcare will eat most of my salary.

Things are a lot different to when our parents and grandparents were starting families. If we were living in different times and the world was a safer place and things weren't so damn expensive I wouldn't mind having a lot of children. But life is far from ideal.
I don't see us having more than four kids to be honest.

Yes. I'm. all you have to do is convince your spouse! I really see this clear that the number you need is dependent on the number you can provide an adequate amount of love and caring when they are younger. If U can do that, why not?

Is it even important to have any kids? Definitely! If we don't have children we can't have an influence on the future of the next generation who will become our next leaders and I'd like to think will be the ones running many of the things we are setting up for them now.
I think we need to increase our numbers by having at least 3 kids, especially if your financial situation affords it. I agree. The life balance has to support it as well though. No good spending so much time making money that you forget to live.
Other races (asians!)are having mini football teams in practically every marriage but are we falling behind?? No we just are making up the teams with too many different managers.
How many kids dya think you gonna have?? I always wanted 8..... I'm on 3.......and boooooyy......I don't know....

| I was an only child but my mother had 6 brothers and sisters. I think that large families are ok, but I'd rather a smaller family like 2-4 kids because even though I have a large family, we are not really close and hardly see each other especially as the kids get older. I guess it depends on the family.

Speaking as one of nine, a big family pulling together is about as powerful an institution as you can find anywhere in the world. If it weren't for the economics in the West, I'm sure we'd see more of it. I'd certainly do it.
As it is, maintaining three of my own is hard enough (as dearly as I love them), so no more for me.

I always wanted at least four children as I believe on average one in four turn out 'conscious' - so theoretically if we all had four children, at least a quarter of the community will be dedicated to setting the standards and carrying on the fight.
I also believe expense is only a problem if there is no cultural unity where the entire community is seen as family. My biggest concern now is not only are our families smaller but they are a lot more fragmented....which in my eyes reduces the size even more.
Fragmentation - with aspects of tradition in mind, I don't have a problem with multiple children for multiple mothers per se for example a man and his hareem of wives all living under the same 'roof/cultural structure' where the women have children for that one man but the times we are living now it's like we don't know where family starts and where family ends.
There's also this new problem where material assets is seen as a substitute for procreation. Uncultured white people are the masters of this to the degree having offspring is now left to science or the power knowing everything has a price.
I definitely believe in the bigger the family the better but my personal dilemma is if it means I have to beg the system to house them and feed them then it's not going to happen. I'd rather strive for security in unity before giving the oppressor that satisfaction. Failing unity then it's down to the serious graft to attain the minimum standard of living I'd want for me and mine.

Hubby's one of 8, and only our house and his Mother's can accommodate all of them at any one time . They are all so close, and would gather to celebrate Baby's first tooth if they could.
As I'm one of only 4 I do find it sometimes intimidating, especially as 5 of them are women, and Mum is a true matriarch, but I stand my ground as best as I could...
Ooo, I've gone so off-topic. Sorry!
