Sometimes it takes a few whacks so that the look works going forward. So that they are trained to know when you get a certain look that they should stop before they get whacked. Most kids and puppies understand this and are soon trained to stop at the look so that the whack never happens LOL

I see your point. Any I don't see any think wrong in that. But when you have to keep on smacking the child. What then.
This part of the reason become aggressive. Some times parent forget to TALK to their children before they start giving out slaps. If its the case when dange is immediate fair enough!!! But kids are not as stupid as puppies and a simple talking to would be apprieciated!!!!!!!!!

Actually I have found that puppies are more obedient than kids. Puppy told a firm and low NO will not do something again. Most young kids will have to be told no a few times followed with a whack.
It has nothing to do with stupidity, but willingness to obey.

Kids have a mind of their own so obviously you ahve to balance how you discipline them and keeping in tact their creative, independence and determination and ensuring that they conduct this is a positive manor and not negatively.
I get what your saying safety blitz

Do remember the days when you would get one single look and that was it?
I prefer my children to have that sort of fear.
Plus I don't want to be one of those screeching parents who slap thier children for every little thing to the point where the child is immune to the punishment. Alot of those kids that are out of controle were hit to this extent. Some even too much!!!!!!!
(Waiting for the almighty backlash) Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i disagree with some of ya points
i find that the kids brought up liberally and with no discipline are the ones out of control, kids that arent taught boundaries.
any form of punishment that is repetitive and pre-dictable can become useless. though one thing must be certain... child needs consistency in their life

my child gains his independence when he leaves my house and supports himself in the world
of ocurse he will gain responsibilities as he gets older
at 1 yrs old he knows his dirty clothes go in the wash basket and he puts them there himself
@safetyblitz i like your reasoning to a certain degree. i wouldnt have used a dog per se. but point well made
i got beats when i was young but they stopped soon enough because i realised certain behaviours were punishable
these liberals and child rights have taken stuff way too far and out of context
these days kids dont get beats or any form of discipline but they get loads of rewards for bad behaviour....out of control children pre teens teens and young adults its clear to see asbo

I'm not disputing that. You quot liberal kids are out of control. I know kids whos parent insisted on beating their kids and have amounted to nothering. That may have been because their was not communication.
Thinking about it now it's more about a balance and some parents don't provide that.
