i am kind of getting into a routine now, i arrange my visits around the time he is being fed. so he gets a breast feed and the rest is tube fed. once he feeds well of breast the tube will come out. cant wait. i get to change him and clean him up on each of my visits, the nurses are very encouraging. i am a bit scared to dress him whilst in the incubator but a nurse did say it can be daunting. though they always encourage me and give ne help and support. i most definitly know most of the staff down there and its only been one week
yep my son is 1 week old today

@LadyDay: That's great that your able to still breast feed. Are you finding it ok? Have they given you any idea how long he will have to stay in hospital for? As little as he is, he sounds strong.
@Mafdet: Thanks sis

@maat ... i express milk throughout the day and he has at least one breast feed each day. so my milk is forever flowing. i have to remeber not to walk around bra less breat padless as that is now a no no
no definite answer as to how long he will be in hospital. just seeing that he is able to maintain his own body temperature and feed by mouth fully
@mesmerised thanks
@soofresh thanks

i just need to stay positive and not think of home time. i dont want to slip into post-natal depression. have been on the Bliss website and forum and have seen there are many in my position too.
anyways. whenever i go to the hospital i keep being told how cute he is how he dont give trouble etc etc.
i never knew breasts could produce so much milk.

I know in no time at all will you be chasing him around the house. keep a positive thought, meditate and continue to pray for the absolute best outcome and strength.
i don't want to slip into post-natal depression. have been on the Bliss website and forum and have seen there are many in my position too.
I know every one is different but post partum was mild for me thank God , I got thru it by writing in my journal doing little doodles of her asleep and telling myself things like ...... it's just the begining,............. If im not strong now I wont be in the future.......... Im due to face much more difficulty when my kid gets older. I welcomed PostPartumDepression and said this will prepare me for the future. it slowly faded away. For me this worked. Hopefully it, PPD will have no effect on you at all.
anyways. whenever i go to the hospital i keep being told how cute he is how he don't give trouble etc etc. Get it in writing, signatures and all wait till he turns 2 and when ever he has a check up remind them and tell'em they spoke too soon. (terrible 2's)
I never knew breasts could produce so much milk.
mine constantly leaked thru my shirt no matter how many pads I'd stuff the bra with I swear I wanted to detach my boobs and squeeze all of it out. I disliked the feeling of the nipple most when it rubs against your shirt after a feeding or expressing... it make me shiver just at thought. But is well worth it!!! You WILL! get thru this and come out on top!! you'll surprise yourself even. Last edited on Tuesday September 20th, 2005 19:59 by **ChloEington**

**ChloEington** thanks for your kind words. i am trying to stay positive. i actually had a good cry yesterday after i come back from the hospital. it seemed to do me the world of good. as now i am thinking a bit more clearly.
Maat yep he did come earlier than expected. but he is doing great. the pediatricians always ask me if i have any questions etc and all staff readily update me. i have units direct line anytime i want to call in whne i am not there to check on him.
Kunjufu yeah its really hard. more like heartbreaking wrenching etc. it did hit me when i left hospital and you see all these people walking out with baby in tow. but i know he is fine and doing well and will be home soon. God will get me through this.
@all i am making sure i make use of my time now. as when he is out i have loads of family ready to come down. they call every few days and cant wait to see him. i have been told not buy much clothes as they have been shopping. bless them

@LadyDay: It must be hard having to leave him but you know what, he could well be home a lot sooner than you think. One of my nephews was born way too early weighing not much more than a bag of sugar. He made progress really quick and seemed to come out after what seemed like a few weeks!! He was still tiny but was strong enough to come home. I'm glad you had a good cry too. Amazing how much better it can make you feel.
I know people want to come and see him when he comes home but try and enjoy time with him yourselves first. Have you been getting enough rest too?
Stay strong

The next village baby is ........
A BOY
He came on Thursday, as expected, 3 hours after my waters broke at home. He weighed 7lbs 5oz and is doing just fine. The delivery was quite quick too. I felt really tired though so didn't bother with any pain relief other than breathing. I didn't come home until yesterday, as I was at risk of losing a lot of blood. Those two nights were long man and here the joke, the NHS dem have Ackee and Saltfish pon de menu dese days LOL.
I'm just taking my time at the moment. Still a bit weak but much better for being home .
@LadyDay: So glad to hear baby's getting even stronger. Looks like we have another celebration to have for you soon too.
@LadyVee: You next sis
@Black_Power: so weh u did deh??

My mistake it's Mistriladi next. How are you bearing up? I knew there were others who said they were pregnant here.
@Mis_ter_ree: How you doing? You're due in November sometime right??
@Nia: Hope you are doing alright too.
....well how's about that for a village baby boom
Oh and BlackBeauty: Now, my belly is black
