| Le Moor. Thats the one. Pity the recording is a bit light on the bass. But a tune like that you need a clean copy anyway.

Here's a teaser for for you.
1, Was there an earlier commercial rap record than Sugar Hill Gangs "Rappers Delight" ?
2, Is the link below of the rap they used on the A or B side of their famous hit.?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2pu6jAWvw8
Also trying to remember a slow jam classic which was by someone with Nicole in her name and the lyrics were something like: "You've got New York Eyes". (i think but dont quote me)....Can you recall the song im talking about?
Yes there was a commercial recording before rappers delight. It was King Tim III with the Fatback band. I was there!!!
Ok, i didnt actually know the answer to question 1, was interested to know though as RD was always noted as the very first.
Question two is, its the B side rap. How do i know?.. because i remember pirating the lyrics so i could drop them on the MIC at my school youth club ..... . T
he difference is in the very first line.

I LOVED this song when I was a kid. Oddysey had a ill sound, very unique. They also had a song called " You're a Native New Yorker". Both of those songs got plenty of play on DC radio, too.Last edited on Saturday June 2nd, 2007 08:05 by Gmahogany.

This is 'I Try'(covered by plenty of folks) from Cuban/Puerto Rican, R&B legend, Angela Bofill. It's from her 'Angel of the Night' cd,('Angel of the NIght' is also a great song-has a Latin Flavor to it). Anyway, Angela had a stroke in 2006. There have been a lot of fundraisers among R&B musicians and fans, to help with her recovery/rehabilitation.
