Backatya: bwoy thats harsh man....'twist up' mout LOL, ok seriously tho I though Kiki was off the boil over the last few weeks, I also agree that Melinda is techically very good, but does not project star quality...
So in truth I expected Melinda to get the boot this week, pity but this is how life is...

At the end of the day, AI is only a door-opener....it is not the end. Some past winners have gone on to HUGE success, while others have just sailed on the wings of their AI successes. Those who make it big are those with the work ethics to succeed.
So Melinda, if she is a hard worker and if she really believes that success is hers, can end up doing a "J-hud" and defining her future for herself despite not winning AI.
@K - I am going to see Ms IA Diva herself - Fantasia. I am going to see her on Broadwasy doing Oprah's production on the Color Purple. They say she is quite good.
Let's hope.

Melinda was clearly the best this week and she deserved to go through. She has been the most consistent the whole way through this. She has a great voice but her voice not really appeal to me as much as Lakisha's did. Hopefully Melinda will go onto to do quite well for herself.
Blake i really could care less about the guy. Beat boxing is so over but maybe he will do well for himself. He is like a sort of not so good version of Justin Timberlake. He has a lot of support out there though.
Jordin she has done well her voice doesn't really appeal to me either and i don't think that her voice is that amazing but she is very good. I would have liked to have seen a final between Lakisha and Melinda and have them battle it out. Lakisha though seemed to lose her confidence as the show went on and Jordin did out perform her, Jordin deserves her place in the final. Lakisha deserved to stay for another week at least though. Jordin really does seem very grounded it will be interesting to watch if she stays true to herself in the coming years.
Both of the finalists this year are quite contemporary and maybe that is what America wanted this year.
Leona Lewis is ill at the moment she will probably not be performing on AI. I doubt that i will watch the final it is really not worth my while.
I doubt that i will bother with this show next year. Those i really like usually end up going out early anyway.Last edited on Saturday May 19th, 2007 08:49 by rachie

Guys,
I was unhappy that Melinda didn't make the cut, but it didn't suprise me. Now it is down to Blake and Jordin, but I'm going with Blake. He is innovate and unique. I'm just amazed how he make himself sound like a million instruments when he only uses his mouth. I also like the fact that he takes risk and makes anybody song as his own.

| CeeCee..I agree with you that on the basis of risk taking and moving out of their comfort zone Blake should win....but in truth he isn't as good as he thinks he is....I feel that he will be a one win wonder... Last edited on Monday May 21st, 2007 19:54 by Kunjufu

Kunjufu,
Yep! Since it is between Jordin and Blake, I'm with him, but over all, the great singers have been eliminated such as Melinda, LaKeisha, Chris and Sundance. Far as Sanjaya, I'd never think the guy would ever disappear. I just think that it's the young girls who wanted him( I've always though the Indian commmunity kept him in there, but according to what I read in an article, they wanted him to go just as much as we did!)

Happiness: as Fantasia's No.1 uk fan (i think) can you tell me what you thought of her performance in the Colour Purple.... Personally I think Fantasia was the last true WINNER of American Idol....she was simply breathtaking on that season...and has got better since, I watched her various performances since winning on TV and at Award shows and she is just something else...

K - I will be in NY on the 27th to see her.....so if anyone here is from NY wave to me when I arrive with my entourage!
ok...so last night was the night. I have to confess I was flipping back and forth between AI and "The Batcher's After The Rose" so I missed Blake's stuff and 1 of Jordan's song. (yes I watched the Bachelor - and I just had to find out how that lying toad, Andy, was going to explain himself to Bevin. I loved watching him squirm!)
Anyway, back to AI.....Jordan was something. She is only 17 years old and she sings with such emotionalism. When she finds her voice - really finds her voice - she will be something to watch/listen and we will all look back to last night as the day Jordan was born (just as the final of AI was the moment that Kelly Clarkson was born)
She will have a phenomenal career.

@k - LOL! yep that's the one. He is a blond, lying, bimbo toad!!
He really highlighted why it is so easy for men to find themselves involved with 2 woman at the same time: they lie to themselves and they lie to the women.....
...but that's for a different thread!
Tell me what you think of Jordan's performance - especially the song that will be her first release should she win.
Re Leona Lewis:
I think that Leona was not scheduled to be on AI because most of this year's top 4 would have blown her away in either singing skill or perfomance skill. I dont believe she was sick for even one bit - if she was ready, no manager could have said no to a final or semi-final performance on AI. Dang even established stars are vying for that.

I've heard great stuff about Fantasia in the Color Purple, too. One thing I know for sure, Fantasia is the truth, the real McCoy(whether on record or live, Good luck trying to catch her hitting a bad note/sounding off key/off pitch/out of tune/straining or reaching, which seems to be general operating procedure for most so called "singers' these days). As far as I'm concerned, she is the only reason that all of the people involved in AI,(monument to musical mediocrity that it is), shouldn't have some really bad fate befall them.....

Happiness....I saw the show I didn't think it was good to be honest I like Melinda doing her thang and Glady's Knight but really I thought that the finale was below standard....and a bit stale..
While i agree with the Winner of AI..I won't spoil it by saying who won, I have to say I thought this whole season has been poor..the calibre has not been has high like in past years, which is a pity...
Not sure if the Winner will make it big, but i wish that person luck...

Well obviously H..you were watch that show with your rose tints on again, because from what I saw Smokey was well off key, it looked like he was struggling to hold his note, Kelly is a so so singer...and she isn't all that.... and even my beloved Taylor hick was off colour for me...he just didn't have that extra bit, in fact it felt that in case he had regressed rather than progressed since AI.....
Plus the same ol' joke are getting a bit thin, especially the lets laugh at the weird people skit...thats tired man...and i think boarding on abusive..imo..

Come on guys, you are having a laugh....giving props for 'taking risk and moving out of comfort zone'. Since when does doing that make you a good?
I could sing country or rock (both are out of my comfort zone, trust me), but the fact is that I would still sound like crap and I bet I won't get any props.
So what if Blake took risk? Was it a 'who can take the greatest risk' competition? He was still not a pleasure to listen to. Melinda was a pleasure to listen and can sing! But I forgot, this is not a singing competition is it?.....lol
Sorry, but the 'reasoning' put forward as to why, first Lakisha, then Melinda went (ahead of the likes of Blake) I find baffling. Sure he obviously 'got more votes', so had a bigger fan base, but on the basis of talent (remember that?) he is no where near those two. I tell you, as a record producer, I wouldn't be investing in him above the two of them, irrespective of what the telephone voting said, because I don't expect to see him to have a long career after AI.
Respect

Smokey was funny to watch. He looked like he had his botox, facelift, chemical peel and some work done around his eyes all at once.
All the guy could do was smile or else his face was gonna rip!
