| I see that american Idol is BACK......and that a lot of the stars from last year are doing big things especially Jennifer Hudson...... Can anyone tell me if the guy who won it last year did well or not...its been silent over here in the UK...

You mean Taylor Hicks?? I haven't seen that cat anywhere. I guess he will come out with something, one day. But Kelly Clarkson remains the most "successful" one.
Since winning American Idol, Taylor has made countless appearances around the country and on popular TV shows.
People magazine named Taylor America's Most Eligible Bachelor in 2006.
Meanwhile, Taylor's American Idol single "Do I Make You Proud" peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
But "Takin' It To The Streets," which would be the first single from his debut album, peaked at number 69 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
Despite the poor sales of his first single, Taylor's self-titled album debut at number two on The Billboard 200 album chart, selling 298,000 copies. But by it's fourth week on the charts, the album had dropped to number 47.
Fans took notice that Chris Daughtry, who finished fifth on American Idol, was outselling Taylor.

| Just flicked on the TV..and it seems that American Idol is on tonight on ITV2 20:30..it clashes with CBB so I guess it will be missed....lol

I am enjoying the show this year because of the girls. I think that Lakisha is amazing and I really like Stephanie, Melinda and Jordin to. They have all been giving really excellent perfomances so far. Sabrina i don't think that she is maybe as good as the others i am kind of undecided about her right now. I really would love to see an all girl final with Melinda and Lakisha battling it out or any of those mentioned above up against one of those two would be pretty good as well.
The guys i don't think that there are any great singers out of the guys this year. I find them pretty boring as well.

Guys,
I woke up this moning utterly disgusted! I cannot believe that my Sundance is gone! A travesty has just taken place with AI. I cannot believe that he lost to Sanjaya! he( Sanjaya) can baely sing! He sound like of a low volumed bubble bee. I'm also disappointed that Sabrina didn't get it.
I'll level with you about something else, deep in my heart I thought that Antonella Barba was going to make it, not because she's great singer( oh god no!). My belief about AI is that they have their picks.She was really popular and pretty and they have had some people like her who was able to stay without andy consequences to follw them. People are saying she was booted off the show because of those racy pictures that were discovered on the internet. Do you really want to know what I really think is the TRUE reasonwhy it happned? You may think what I'm about to say is crazy, but it's someting to think about. A couple of days ago, Rosie O'Donell was talking about her and the show and how they seem to have a double standard on ceratin contestants. Rosie was comparing Antonella and Frenchie and how Antonella was being allowed to stay on the show, while Frencie was being kicked for a similar controversy. Rosie didn't hide her opinion about it, but she said that she thought that AI was being racial about it. Intially , I overlooked that thought, but then I seemed to notice that the White stars with the controversial past were allowed to stay and more fo the black ones were being kicked out.
Just recently, another AI contestant, a Black man , was kicked off I didn't have much time to see what his problem was, but Antonella was being allowed to stay.What I find so obviously " ironic" about the whole thing was that soon as Rosie mentioned the controversy, AI told her not to show any more of their clips, but they calmed down, then last night, Antonella was quickely kicked off the show. I used to think that the contestants were the ones who decided the fate of the singers future, but now Im beginning to question it. It just seem that soon as the Antonella and Rosie commentary came up, that was when Antonella was let go. They have had people in the same position as Antonella and they were allowed to stay all the way through. I could be wrong and I would like to be, but I'm really beginning to think that 1) The bigwigs are rigging the phone system and 2) It's a cross between racism and appearance discrimination. That is what I'm thinking about the whole thing--a cover up to make themselves look good-- and less racist.

I don't know about all the stuff around what she did or didn't show in the past, but for me her performances on the live audience shows have been quite poor (she sounded pretty good in auditions) and she didn't deserve to be in the top 12 no way.
However, I don't know how that boy-girl with the Paula Abdul hairstyle ever got in above Sundance . In fact how he got into the top 24 in the first place is a mystery to me. Damn, I can sing better than him. Well at least you can hear me at any rate.

I am looking forward to it this week what with it being the Diana Ross week. The songs are most likely going to be Motown hits.
I was sad to see Sabrina go I would have also loved to have seen her take part in this show this week with the soul theme.
I was gutted to see Sundance go he was one of my favourites out of the guys this year.
I have read on a few blogs that Sanjaya is popular with Asian voters. I listened to Sanjaya twice last week and the second time he sounded better than the first but still he should not have got through in place of Sundance.
Simon Cowell was very rude to Hayley so she probably picked up some sympathy votes. She is not a bad singer either but i preferred Sabrina. Hayley was offering something a bit different as well from the majority of the girls so that would have helped her chances of getting through as well.
I would love to see them do a wildcard show.
I don't think that Antonella going was a fix. Maybe what Rosie said had some input and maybe talent won out in the end. I was thinking that she may get through as she seemed to have a lot of support but i am so glad that she never. She was good in her auditions i give her that but after that it was pretty bad all the way through.
There is a difference between Antonella's situation and Frenchie's. Frenchie i believe got paid for her pictures whereas Antonella's were posted without her consent and she never got paid any money. Some of Antonella's pictures were fake as well. The guys who was eliminated before were wanted by the law i believe which makes that different as well.

When i saw Diana Ross this week i thought has been lightning her skin. She was darker than that to me when she was younger. I could be wrong but i don't think that i am wrong.
Melinda, Lakisha and Jordin were great this week. I weren't to bothered about Brandon getting cut because i don't think that he is all that good. Sanjaya should have gone before him as Brandon has given stronger performances but as i said i am not really bothered.

Sanjaya Sanjaya when will you go home??! I think the contestants this year are rather weak with the exception of 2 or 3 people. What a dry week. I don't expect singers to have such a hard time making MOTOWN sound good - the melody is there, don't murder it! Use it! These young people just have no idea with the rubbish they generally listen to... DR is a megastar but that song was dry too...
Can't say I'm sorry Brandon's gone. He was very good in the initial audition but since then has been decidedly blah somehow. Chris Sligh [fat and curly] is getting on my nerves - doing his own arrangement indeed! Songkiller!! And Stephanie disappointed me - I was waiting for the good bit and it never came!
Next week - British songs...hmm...

Cos there's a campaign to turn AI upside down this year!
I can't wait - they (AI) are starting to think that they are really all that. Stupid Ryan is getting on my every last nerve and his constant bickering with Simon is getting soooooooo OLD. Just sleep with each other and get it over and done with already!!
all the singers this year are crap except the 2 you pointed out and even then I'm not pressed if I watch them or not.
That's why I cant wait for Leona Lewis to be on AI so we can all have something to talk about!
