Nia Long: Yes. But I want to get this straight: It wasn't my fault. I didn?t start it; I didn't throw any punches. It was one man's ego against another man's pride. It was all about them.
Essence: But how do two grown men start fighting at a mall?
Nia Long: What happened was, I'd gone out to dinner with my son and a friend of mine. This was the first time I'd ever brought my child around someone I was dating, so it was a big deal.
After dinner, my son's father [to whom Long was previously engaged; the couple broke up when their son was a toddler] needed to pick him up, so I told him to meet me. Really, I had no intention of introducing him to my friend right then, because my life is my business. He knows I'm a good mother, and that's the most important thing. But he got to the mall a lot faster than I thought he would. It's like he put on his Batman wings and flew [laughing].
When I saw him I thought, Okay, this is nothing to get excited about, and I introduced him to my friend. They shook hands, and then I guess my son's father just got emotional, because he basically punched my friend in the face.
Essence: He shook his hand and then popped him for no reason?

| I just dont think that Nia Long is fair on her new boyfriend..why refer to him as .."that thing.." and appear to defend, or excuse, her ex man's action over this. Wimmin are strange sometimes.

Man that is one ugly b**ch where I am from. Funny thing I saw Soul Food for the first time yesterday. I hate those smaltzy African-American films with Nia Long, Vivica Fox and those type of women. See it and turn off immediately. But had no choice to watch it coz other people were.
One scene where her husband lost his job, because they found out he did jail time. His bredrin said hey man don't ever tell no black woman you lost a job. I said boy those women sound loyal like great white sharks and they were talking about Nia Long who was married to the brother. Then to read this..Come like life imitating art.
Can't imagine any old girlfriend putting hands on a new one for sh*t to end there or for man to say boy nothing to do with me....

Oh by the way Long did not know her baby father like a whole heap do not want other men around their children, same way women don' want other women playing mum around thier kids or a whole heap shall I say.
Pure and utter bullsh*t. She knows the type of man her children father is but typical cheap and worthless woman shows what she is made out of when the two sevens clash.

must admit, she sounds pretty insincere. like it was orchestrated. Mind you I agree with FB, she is a really hard faced cow, the kind with a past who you see hanging around a rough pub. I cant get over what she said.....
Nia Long: its like he put on his batman wings and flew..... Men are very protective of their children, and ours is his first and only child. I think my child's father was like, "This is who's around my son?" and just kind of lost it.
I think she should be sued.

Dem hard face girls or with hard eyes watch them..
The thing make me feel stink, because as a man imagine you put yourself in that brother's shoes and you are conducting yourself decently and a man come and start put licks on you in public which is a humilating thing. Grown men fighting in a shopping mall is shameful in any place or time, unless a man tries to rape your mother or grandmother...Then you see the woman just dust out like that and then read what she had to say.
Man just give a nasty taste in my mouth and make me say boy Fred it is a good thing you don't like them hard face gal..Like you can feel their spirit and it aint nice...
You don't expect the woman to start do kungfu and bust up the baby father or anything like that but for Jesus Sake man behave like you are concerned. In criminology they call that secondary victimisation...You take a serious blow and then another by default and you did nothing to cause any of them.
And what makes it worse, 'oh he knows I am a good mother'. What does that mean she feed her pickney on time because I thought having a good heart and soul was also part of that...But am I being romantic...
