Has Sanaa turned up heat on Denzel?
Sanaa Lathan is doing her best to shoot down rumors of an affair with co-star Denzel Washington. But his wife, Pauletta, may not think the actress is doing her any favors.
Lathan goes on record in the new issue of Vibe to refute claims that she's threatening Denzel's 22-year marriage.
"It got started because in the movie ['Out of Time'], I had a love scene with Denzel," says Lathan. "People took that and translated it into real life. They said I was pregnant with Denzel's child, and people were calling my mother, saying I'm having his baby. It's frustrating."
But even addressing the rumors probably "made Pauletta furious," a source says in the new National Enquirer, which features a cover story headlined "Denzel Divorce Shocker."
"It isn't just one woman but ALL the women that Pauletta has heard about through the years," the source told the tab, which reported in 1996 that Denzel took Pauletta on a $1 million second honeymoon after she accused him of cheating with another actress. "Things got so bad between Denzel and Pauletta that he moved out of their house and into a hotel. Denzel and Pauletta went through the motions of a family holiday for their four kids, but things are still very shaky."
Washington's rep tells us, "Before his last four films, Denzel has taken a room in a hotel to prepare for his roles. But he comes home at night! Their marriage is just fine."
