You do not talk of the dilemmas you face yourself and so the nub of the argument is left hanging - Why you went to SA? What did you expect to find? Were you able to relate to the S/African Black community? etc.

If you did this then your reader would understand the connection and clash between you and Rita.

Good but I wanted more.
