Apparently i'm one of the only people on the planet who thinks that the movie ScarFace isn't that great of a movie. I'm the only black male that I know of that feels this movie is just alright.

Good acting and a decent plot but I can't see why people love this movie so much as to decorate a house with the bullsh*t memorbilia and use the movie as a guide to life.

Most brothas say that he built something from nothing which is true in the movie but the guy got his ass served at the end for thinking that he was more than what he was.

Not only that, his sister was getting juiced by his bestfriend who had to kill and he couldn't trust anyone.

So whats so great about the movie? Is this the type of life most people are asipiring to have or do most people just say its great because everyone else thinks its great?

BP

I like that film... not love but like.

Its a great movie but not in my top five.

I think people admire Tony's dont-give-a-f**k attitude.  Like when they chainsaw his boy in front of him and threaten him next he says "f**k you" come on now BP... you gotta love that LOL

I didnt like the part when he killed Manolo... He wasnt 'juicing' his sister as you put it, they got married.  Tony was drugged up at the time and paranoid thats why he lost control.

If you remember properly the drug use was the cause of his downfall yes but the spark was the fact that he had an ounce of humanity left in him and refused to blow up a family.

Also the way he went out is legendary is movies... I suppose every man watching that thinks "if Im gonna die its gonna be like that"

I still standin!! I take your bullets!!

I like Scarface, not my top ten either but a very enjoyable film.

Al Pacino made the film… he made the character so real and lovable in some ways too… I liked his bluffing skills and getting to the top by simply being very resourceful and seeming dangerous…

The ending was brilliant… you kinda knew there was gonna be inevitable downfall.

Belly is CRAP!!

Id rather watch a Master P film or a Lil Wayne one.  Hype Williams ego trip thats all it was.

Shotta's is STUPID!!

How they having a big shootout with machine guns in the plush suburbs and no police?  Half an hour later after my man has said goodbye to his dead friend, had a shower and change of clothes... STILL NO POLICE?? What kind of stupid film is that??

I know if Im in the rich areas and I so much as spit on the floor or thorw my ribena carton in the bush then helicopters and ARU are on the way.

Nah sorry, you cant compare those silly films to Scarface... people dont have the same reverence for them either.

Now if you had said New Jack city or Menance to society then yeah I would understand...

LOL Sooofresh

move to Africa

That bit got me too!  My boys were giggling hard all the way through that film... AT it not with it.  Trash!

BTW

BP

Im guilty as charged with the Scarface pic on the wall... Sorry! LOL I have boxers and footballers and cars etc, a lot less now than before.  My stepdad passed through my gates a few years ago and said "hmmm enjoy those pictures while you can because when you get married the woman is taking them down and leaving you with nothing but pictures of mountains and trees" I laughed hard that day.

OMG belly absolutely SUCKED... T-boz should just stick to singing... and most rappers cannot act so stop employing rappers to act in a movie… we have countless fantastic actors who could do the job much better...

Nothing in this movie was convincing... everything about this film big time sucked...

You aren’t the only one………in fact I can honestly say I’ve never watched the whole thing through.

But we like to fantasize, how much money we make, how many “hoes we have…..how much we are “ballin.

Shrugz, I thought it was an OK movie………

I have one single question, Why is it that all Rappers have a fixation on Al Pacino's role as Scarface. Everytime I see an episode of MTV Cribs there is a 20 foot picture of Scarface in the background or the movie is being played on the Big screen:X. Don't these idiots realize the character is fictional. Its not like he actually succeded in what he was doing;he was a failure! He had a bad marriage, he killed his right hand man,got his sister killed, and died at the end. Other black ppl I talk to mention that he came from nothing and made something for himself:?. That's BullSh*t!mad-moonie There are plenty of true stories about ppl who rise from nothing and live wealthy.

Could someone please shed some light on this for me?

Because the overwhelming majority of rappers are a bunch of arseholes who celebrate any and everything destructive. They make me so bloody sick.

Al Pacino is definitely a good actor but Scarface is one of the most overrated and nonsensical films of all time.  I bet if there were a movie based on a young black male who came out of the ghetto, studied hard and overcame obstacles in order to become a powerful businessman they wouldn't give the film the time of day. Even Cubans hate the film Scarface becuase of how it portrays them.

What kills me is how they big up the Mafia when they are notorious in their hatred of black people and call us names like 'eggplant' and 'mooly'. Remember the scene in the Godfather when one of the mafiosos said something along the lines of "sell the drugs to the darkies because they're all animals anyway". It reflects what the mafia in real life feel about black people.

Rappers need to get of Scarface's d*ck.

I'm no rapper but I love that film.  I'm not good at watching films because of a tendency to lose track of what's happening, my mind wanders a lot, so my mark of a good film is one that holds my attention and doesn't have me wondering what's going on part way through.  This film pulls you in and holds your interest from beginning to end, like City Of God which along with Scarface is one of my favourite films ever.  Not everyone is going to like the same films but I think it's important to remember that the main purpose of a film is to entertain.  I think the reason a lot of people like the film is because it's entertaining.

Its very sad to see how much 'mainstream' hip hop hero worships idiotic fictional white characters like Scarface, whilst the good hip hop doesnt get a look in nowadays.

When I was still into hip hop in my college days, late eighties early nineties, yeah they had violent guys like Ice T Schooly D & NWA but they were counter balanced by consciousness like PE, X Clan and KRS ONE and pure funlovers like Kid n Play, LL and Big Daddy Kane.

To the poster above I think City of God is a far better film than Scarface, I agree with other posters its way overrated and watching it last year seemed rather dated too. It was very unbelievable a psychopath like him suddenly found a conscience and didnt want to kill that diplomat just because his wife and children were present.

A lot of rappers like the gangster Mafia movie, no matter who the main characters are. It's the story and the glorification of the gangster lifestyle that's appealing. That's you hear them in lyrics like jOos pechi in goodfellas, but mainly scarface I think 2-pac was a big fan. PLus scarface was a good movie and that it's fun doing that accent. "eeeh men, she a female tiga."

I'm not saying that it was not a good movie,I just didn't like it. Alot of rappers like other good movies and even mention them in their lyrics(like MAtrix) but you don't see the movie posters on their walls or on the Big screen TV in their house. I just feel like if you're gonna admire someone fictional or non-fictional at least pick someone who succeded at what they did. Scarface FAILED! If he was killed by a bunch of COPS I would understand, but he was killed by his own underworld boss. I first saw it when I was young and hated it. I watched it again at an older age to see if my opinion changed......It didn't. There was absolutely nothing good about the movie.

clp)That was going to be my next question. I'm glad someone understands what I'm getting at. I don't know how it is where yall are from but in the south of US just about all of the local rappers are fixated on the use of Mafia names i.e Yo Gotti, lil Gotti, Scarface Al Kapone,The Usual Suspects,Made Men,and The Gambino Family. JUst pure garbage!!! Even Master P came out with stupid ass movies using a horrible "Scarface" voice. These f*ckin idiots are chuggin the cock of the Italian Mafia but don't realize that they don't give a f*ck about black ppl. In the Godfather they said "give it to the Ni66ers" not blackies in reference to heroine. But yet and still these dumbass black ppl love these fictional characters and dream of being in the MOB. I wouldn't even mind if they admired Bumpy Johnson,a black mobster in Harlem, but these other idiots....come on!?

Certain factions of Hip-Hop culture are obsessed with Scarface, the power, the balls ,the glamour, the drugs...but we all know what happens to Scarface in the end so lets hope they are processing that part of the movie too.

Anyway cant believe you or any yoot in Ethiopia would be staying in watching Scarface for the 95th time when you have such astonishing scenery to behold??

Lol...its comical the way they ALWAYS seems to have the poster around when MTV cribs is coming....jeez, its so annoying:P:P

How can so called creative people have such uniformed taste about one single film that really isn't much to brag about is beyond me.

@Jett, i don't believe they have the mental stamina to have watched that film all the way to end....cause if some of them ever did, then they wouldn't be behaving the way they do......unless, they suffer from permant amnesia......confused3

I though Scarface was alright...the fact that he was a nobody & became 'the man' is an inspiration to some....

Belly was boring....some of the stiffest acting ever..you can imagine Hype shouting 'ACTION/CUT'...lol..

Used to love Menace II Society back in the day...thought O-Dog
