long time, no read but i have something i would really like to find out about your opinion
The Departed- I like the movie, great story, great acting but there's one thing which really freaked me out. I used to read an Spike Lee interview in which he accused Tarrantino of an excessive and senseless use of the "N-word".
But it seems to me that M.Scorcese is guilty of the same abuse of the "N-word".The Departed is a remake of the HongKong-Classic "Internal Affairs".so far, so good..they wrote a new script, now it plays in Boston, okay, Boston is known as the "Irish" city in the States..okay...lot of rivalry and hatred going on between the races...okay...but what the hell is the meaning of the Movie intro?
You see Jack Nicholson walking down the streets and talking street wisdom. But then he goes on saying crap like "That's why the N****rs will never get what they want, bla, bla, bla"
First of all, what is this sentence good for. He didn't have to use the N-word, plus there are so many ways of explaining street hustling("you do not have to ask for anything, just go out and get it), so why do they have to refer to black people.
Something i really, really do not understand.
Gangs of New York? Same sh*t..you have white fighting white all the time, but for no damn reason, you have some black people showing up, who needs to be killed and insulted.. N****r this, N****r that....this has nothing to do with the story

| I did like the film, although I didn't see the relevance of the Boston Busing riots myself.
