The novel that the film is based on is an early 90s production, by an author (P.D. James) who is known for her conservative leanings.......guess the polarisation one can see in the world (then and now) is unsustainable, and will eventually break down......can appreciate that the immediate aftermath of that wouldn't be pleasant, and maybe this is what's reflected.....the following is also in the novel:
"Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men....." (Psalms 90, verses 1-3)
Was slightly disappointed by the movie itself, which was a shame as the premise is an intriguing one......Blade Runner did a better job........
