I've never been to the cinema on my own.

In the past I have missed out on certain films I wanted to see as no one (usually my other half) doesn't want to.

I go to the movies often (student discount) and see people on their own even when it's a 'big' film. I always see them and they don't seem to feel no way. I've told myself that next time there's a film I want to see that no one else does I'm just gonna go.

Now shopping by yourself can be a good thing, you can go where you please and take time, have a quick browse etc. I go shopping alone often.

Never been to the cinema by myself cos usually hubby or one of my friends wants to see the same thing as me. But I would. I don't mind eating by myself either. I'm an only child, I'm used to my own company- and often grouchy when I don't get it!

Whadya mean?

What i mean is that i feel most in here arent being completely honest. Very few are holding their hand up admitting they do have some self-consciousness. They are portraying themselves as individuals that are 100% free from self consciousness when they imply 'i dont care what other people think.' The way i see it, it doesnt matter how confident or strong minded someone is, everyone is bound by some degree of self consciousness (or 'social influence' in psychological terms). Some people are less self conscious than others, true, but everybody (or 99%) cares to some exent what other people think. Which explains why most people wouldnt start singing on the fully loaded bus with their head phones on. Am i being patronising? No. Because i've also been guilty of denying certain feelings. Prince Hakeem i admire your honesty.

We all self conscious i'm just the first to admitt it- Kanye.

99% of the time I DON'T care what people think of me.  Yeah when I was younger I used to worry about that but I'm an adult now and I live by "take me as I am or leave me".  More time when I walk down the street I draw attention in some form either because of my hair or because of my clothes.  If I constantly wondered why peeps are staring up in my boat I'd be a nervous wreck, I'd never go upstairs on a packed bus, I'd never walk into a crowded room.  Thats just long I ain't got time for that.

Rah looks like I'm going to see Deja Vu by myself fi tru.  No biggie more popcorn for me :)

I really and truly do not give a rats ass about going to the movies solo,I've done it for so long it doesnt even register as something to be self-conscious about or pitied.

I've been to gigs by myself and I have been self conscious at first ,but once the music has started it's not a problem, you cant always wait on people to do things with, sometimes you've just gotta do em.

However,I wouldnt be brave enough to get dressed and go to a fancy restaurant and eat on my own, then I would feel self conscious.

your probably better off watching that programme on channel 4 about the animals pictured growing in the womb because a mate has seen eragon and said it was a proper dry low budget lord of the rings.

I have been cinema on my own before. I went to see the last Star  Wars film by myself, because my brothers usually go with their girlfriends, and most of my friends are too much into pirate films now.

In all honesty when I do shopping I don't do it with no more than maybe one other friend. Shopping with a big crowd is irritating. You end up waiting too much for people, they then end up trying to dictate the day etc
