Has anyone seen this film called Irreversible??? It was just downright horrific!!!:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

It's very notorious for two particular scenes. One of them was just absolutely crazy and the other one I couldn't watch after the first two minutes. I won't even mention what happens in them but after you see the movie you'll wish you hadn't.

What films have you seen that left you feeling disturbed and depressed?

There was this film called Happy about this white suburban guys that leads a normal happy life except for the fact that he molests his sons best friend. There was this french film called She loves me, She loves me about this erotomaniac who falls in love with this Doctor who barely knows she exists. The ending is sort of funny but at the same time disturbing. The Ring was really disturbing because the ending was sort of weird. Beloved was extremely disturbing.  One erry scence was when Sethe tells to John D, "they took my milk" and then the scence flashes to where she was being violently raped and then there were scences where they showed her being brutally whipped---- i watched it when i was about 12, absolutely horrifying. There are alot of films, that i cant think of right now but especially films where the ending is sort of weird and unsettling and you're left wondering what happened.

Almost did the same, my reasons were for the awful script and how everyone called it a film noir - ridiculous that.

Happiness is a very funny film, couldn't stop laughing.

A Clockwork Orange.  I made the mistake of watching that film by myself at 4 am one time.

 ***Shudders***

Never again.

I also had nightmares after watching Sin City.  That scene where the female cop showed the stumb where her hand had been eaten off by that cannibal just did not agree with my mind.

I found that film a bit weird as well.

For me it is the film Twin Peaks: Fire walk with me. I CANNOT watch that film. It is creepy in the strangest way. It has this small man...and I can't even go into it. It just freaks me out.

LOL!

"He made me WAAAAAAAAATCH!!!"

Another movie that I found equally disturbing as it was entertaining is City of God. The entire movie makes sure you don't forget it long after you finished watching it, especially the 'hand or foot'  scene when that little kid is crying his eyes out after getting shot and his friend gets murdered. That scene really messed with my head...damn!!

BB--- that movie was SO messed up!!! I am not a David Lynch (Blue Velvet, EraserHead) fan and his movies always leave me creeped out.    There is something tortured in his soul.   It's so surreal and mystic and creepy and weird and unsavoury topic. UGH.

That midget guy is in the TV show Carnivale.

Eraserhead is waaaaaay more messed up than Fire Walk.

*****

My next nominations are "Naked Lunch" - (the first movie I ever walked out on) and all the rest of the Cronenberg movies (Dead Ringers, Videodrome, Scanners...)   The man is ill!

I'm so glad you understand. You described it perfectly! And yes that director is weird, but I don't learn because I have seen Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive.

That midget guy is in the TV show Carnivale.

Urgh dont watch that!

Eraserhead is waaaaaay more messed up than Fire Walk.

Then I ain't watching that!

'Lockdown' an American prison film starring Master P. It is a very moving. violent film, where 3 friends are wrongfully imprisoned for a murder they didn't committ. The film just shows how they survive, and their experiences in Prison. There is a very violent rape scene, where neo-Nazis rape the youngest of the 3 friends, which is very horrific. Anytime i think about it, i shudder and get very sad, as it's an experience which men really go through. There is also another scene where the young brother who is made the neo-Nazis b**ch, who by this time is hooked on heroine violently stabs and kills the main rapist and leader of the Nazi group in his neck, with his syringe. The young brother is them killed by a guard who heavily strke him with a club on his head. I never finished the film entirely (i kept running in and out of the room) becasue it was so disturbing.

'Shawshank Redemption' is another classic yet moving film, that is very enotinal.

'Amistad' was very disturbing for be especially the illustration of the journey to America. I think Speilberg did a great job in conveying the experiences of slaves during the middle passage. One part that got me, was when the woman gave birth in chains, and when the slaves are on deck to get their exercise, the sister with her beautiful baby jumps overboard. The way it was done, you assumed that she had vanished, as one minute you see her the next you don't. Another moving scene is when the man is getting whipped and blood is just pouring for his body, it was so sad!!

there is also this other film starring sidney Poitters daughter, and John Lindo the name i cant remember. Its basically about this young woman who lives in Canada, and her parents one white (mother) and her father (john Lindo) want her to get married, in which she is quite adamant about. This young white charming man soon comes into the picture wins her heart and they get married. Unbeknown to her parents and herself, he is really a slave trader. When they get back to there new home, he suddenly turns nasty, strikes her, goes outside where there is this old nasty old man who gives him money, then he goes into the room where he rapes her. The next day she is on the auction blocks being sold. To cut a long story short she fallls in love with this black man, where they devise a paln to get word to her mother and father about what has happened where they rescue her and her new love.

There is this one scene where one of the overseers, find out that some of the black children can write and read. He is livid and asks who it was, it was really sidney Poitter's daughter, but her love intrests says it was him. the overseers, don't beleive him call him stupid. He picks up a book and starts reading this poem. He really can't read but has just remembered something that she had previously read to him. He then gets severely beaten for her. The master calls the whole slave population to watch, and she is in tears and so sorry. She goes to him afterwards, and helps fix soothe his lashes with this old woman who is like a second mother to him. The man protects her also from the sexual advances from the slave master, when she is alone at the far end of the plantation peeling potatoes. The master is actually scared of him.

Iv'e gone on a bit, i know sorry!

I have seen that film...only some of it though and I cannot remember the name. I didn't know she was Sidney Poitters daughter.

You evil witch why did you remind me of a film I had successfully blotted from my mind?  I hate you now!

Blackbeauty

Why?

Because it introduces the concept of death to very young children.  The death of a parent and being an orphan.  Makes you aware even at that infant age of your own fragile dependancy on your mother.  The death of Bambi's mother was horrible for me as a kid.

"The War Zone"

That film was so pointless and perverted. I think it was made just to get a reaction. When it was on TV I turned over to it. I only saw about 7 minutes of it. The WRONG 7 minutes, i didn't watch the rest. If I'd watched the rest of it I would have seriously questioned my mental state.

Hannibal - I left and came back. That film was raw.

So was Monsters ball. Seeing Billy Bob Thornton rutting on Halle Berry was something my young virgin mind was not prepared for!!
