The working titile of this film should have been 'Superman In Love'. I knew I was going to be dissappointed, but i didnt know i was going to be this dissappointed and pissed.
BRYAN SINGER SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!! And would be better of making screen adaptaions of Mills & Boons. I see why he couldnt direct X3. All that could be seen in the movie was in the trailer.

I thought the movie was fantastic from start to finish and you can only appreciate it in the cinema with the special sound effects. It has a good twist to the story line which suprised me but for peeps shouldn't spoil the story line for those who haven't yet seen it.

I have to agree with the Marvel heads on this one.
The film SUCKS.
As previously stated it should be called Superman in love. MEMO TO MR SINGER " THE PUBLIC WHO PAY GOOD MONEY TO SEE SUPERMAN WANT GREAT CGI, GREAT FIGHTS & A PLOT. NOT A LOVE STORY "
Good CGI though
Brandon & Kevin did what they could but the script was very poor.
Where can Superman go there is no one who can really challange him.
Please tell me if its me but dont you think Superman looks a little strange in the spandex red & blue pants ?
The X-Men & Batman did away with it BUT I guess it would be a step toooo far for you Marvel heads. I dont know BUT the whole outfit looked wrong.
The only super hero that looks ok in spandex is Spiderman !!!!
Dont ask me why but it just looks right, where as a big 6'5 man in Spandex & his pants over his tights just looks wrong.
Anyway I feel they got the movie wrong on most counts.
Batman Begins was a much better movie on all counts.
NOW ALL YOU MARVELL HEADS WHAT DO YOU PREFER X3 or Superman Returns ?
X3 for me wins hands down pleanty of action to keep most amused. I was fighting the sleep bad in Superman.

| For those of you haven't noticed yet..... Superman returns and Superman 1 have the same same script with similar lines ie "flying is still the safest way to travel", saving Lois Lane in and aeroplane/helicopter. Lex Luther wanting land/real estate. Coming to Earth as a baby/returning to earth from Krypton, my guess is that the second superman will somehow involve the return of General Zod and that Superman 3 will involve Chris Rock..

Superman is a DC comics superhero, he is not Marvel! DC and Marvel are rival comic houses very different from each other.
Marvel is Xmen, Fantastic Four, Avengers, Hulk and most famously Spiderman.
DC is Batman, Superman, Wonderwoman, The Flash, Catwoman and Green Lantern.

I watched Superman 1 and 2 on Friday (refresh the mind) and watched 3 this afternoon, i thought it was pretty good.
I think it would have been a fantastic had they cut the film by 30 minutes.

Superman 2006, what a piece of blasphemy ?, "The world needs a saviour"
These producers are stepping into unchartered territories. You know why Superman films have been hampered with what they call bad luck. They need to stop wripping off idea's from the bible.
Notice too how many times, Superman falls from the sky, kind of like a fallen angel ? falling to the earth after rescuing the people. Yet he is the peoples saviour.
Make room for the anti-christ in the psyche of the people this is what this film is designed to do very subtley.
I posted a thread a year or more so back about Superman. Interesting how we also hear Lex Luther's white supremacist spreel about power and technology, The Romans made roads, the British ships....
Very interesting movie. How Superman woke up out the hospital and left only for the nurse to first realise he was gone, was somewhat reminiscent of Jesus leaving the tomb and Mary first stumbling upon it empty.
Superman is a ripped of story.
I reckon the planet he chucked out into space will play a part in the other movies but who cares.... it was boring

Props to the person who successfully fought their sleep, that feat was beyond me watching this mess! Wht a load of rubbish. I was expecting to rekindle my youth watching this movie. the trailer was so good too, I was left very disappointed.
I don't profess to be a Superman expert but it was the same as the old movies, and very very boring! The action sequences were good, but not enough to hold the entire overly long movie together in my opinion, what a waste of money.

I just want to point out that it is more likely that the revival of the 'Superman' film series has more to do with keeping the Eurocentric white-supremacist idealogy alive than keeping up with Marvel (which by the why has always -at least attempted to maintain diversity in one form or another).
Superman is about the white man being God. You should've figured that out with all the iconacal and religous themes incorporated into the film. Let's not forget that the base premise of Superman is 'Truth, Justice and the American way' (note the costume =red,WHITE MAN and blue). Well we already know well enough what the 'American way' is all about, and it certainly has nothing to do with the hackned ethics and extraterrestrial morale of this 'popular' comic-book character.
This film is a collaborative effort of Hollywood and the the powers-that-be to rejuvenate the ailing faith of U.S. citizens in its government. When you see pop up flash ads about punchig out George Bush, or polls about whether he is a good leader or should be impeached on the Internet-In fact, GWB gets more bad press on the Web than Osama Bin Laden-Then there's something seriously wrong. And the government is SCARED. They are scared of anarchy, domestic terrorism and civil disobedience.
The United States right now, as quiet as is kept, is in SERIOUS POLITICAL TROUBLE. Not just domestically but INTERNATIONALLY. It is a wonder that the rest of the World hasn't nuked the U.S. yet on the premise that it'd just be a better place without it.

Yep true, America as lost its sheen ? it reminds me of a scripture which goes "How as the gold become dim".
America is not the place it was when Christopher Reeves played the part of superman, in fact the world isn't the same place. And basically everyone is seeing through the lies of their so called truth and justice. White Supremacy is also dying a death, as all the nations are waking up to the treachery that europeans have done under the sun. Superman is no longer believeable, in terms of ideals.
One thing i do know, they need to stop prancing about in the world as though they own it, for the fate which came to christopher reeves i fear is an allegory for America's end. It is God who puts up and bring down kingdoms, and maybe in the minds of the people our remembrance of America will not be the Super power, but a paralysed nation being wheeled about by others drinking through a straw.

Your observations of the Christ myth are very profound.
The stone rolled away from the tomb; Ascending into 'heaven', etc.
And there's more too on the Lex Luthor side.
Kryptonite = wormwood. Made the waters bitter.
The 'beast' rising up out of the sea...
Superman being whupped =Christ being whipped
The sliver of kryptoninte into the chest = The spear into Christ's chest
It's a wonder that white Christian fundamentalists aren't raising HELL about this movie.

For one America has the majority of the planet's nukes and would blow anythng out of the sky long before it reaches here and send a barage to the originators and send them back to the Stone Age.But let's not let facts stand in the way of a good ol rant ok?
BTW the chuck of planet hurled into space will release General Zod and the others from the "Phantom Zone" for the next Superman movie.

Its amazing that the same people who have it sprawled across their dollar, "In God we trust" actually don't trust him at all. If you did you would realise that if America continues down this path it is taking in the world, that God will remove its power. Superman (Christopher Reeves) fell of a horse and the next time people saw him it was look at that, look what he's reduced to. Well with all your Nukes, trust me God as a David for that big Goliath called America, and but a little stone to knock out his center of power. Martin Luther King said it, that God will break the back bone of America, if it doesn't change. You stay there confident in your Nukes, it takes only one natural disaster for your own Nukes that you have to become a problem in your own country.

Not sure it will, because Superman return picks up from the second superman where he defeated zod. The little boy in this Superman who is Superman;'s son, is a product of the relationship in that movie he had with Lois.
The script writing is actually terrible, I saw so many holes in this new movie.
I am starting to see Superman to as the villain, not the good guy.

Superman operates in the air, the devil is the Prince of the power of the air.
Like someone picked up in this thread, Superman was stabbed in his side (not chest), Jesus was pierced in his side.
Its kind of a mingling of beliefs that is going on.
Superman's arch enemies that were released in Superman II were three persons in number, this could be the three in the Godhead.
hmmmmm? maybe some gnostic beliefs mingled in this film too.

The film was not that bad, just too long.They did well in acting like 3&4 did not exist.I just hope Singer can find some other villans.Luther is becoming old hat.Supes has fought thousands of villans in his career and focusing on just one is not good.
The effects were first rate especially at the beginning,but its obvious the script was by committee.Hopefully the next film can be what audiences want to see.: special effects on a grand scale.
