| From what my friends who say it told me.Wait for the DVD.Not that well done.Though Sanaa is good,alot of the film was poorly directed and written.

Have you seen the new movie Something New?
It looks like it's got a fine cast (Sanaa Lathan, Mike Epps, Alfre Woodard, Donald Faison & Blair Underwood), well directed and I'm sure will spark a debate! No doubt it'll go straight to DVD here...

| They do have a good cast so how did she end up opposite of that white dude? Whats up with her anyway, she has done many other movies with brothers but as for the last 2 movies she did, were her with a white man.

| Don't hate..if she hadn't taken the role then some other black actress would have. At least she's getting paid and when hollywood finally 'accepts' her she hopefully can take on films of substance or maybe even finance them herself. Why have beef with her but not when black guys do it?.....Way more films with black men leads taking up with white chicks

| In my opinion, it is not the fact that Sanaa Lathan plays the opposite of a White man with love interests. It is the premise of the movie implying Black men are unavailable for whatever stereotypical reasons.

Everyone on here familiar with my posts knows that I find those shows equally abhorrent. Another reason I said to hell with that wretch is because in one particular interview she dissed black men and claimed that black women are better off in interracial relationships because brothas are failures blah blah blah. Well to some extent its true? Recent statistics show that what black women have been saying for years is true :For about every three black women there is one black man. No, i dont blame these women for saying that its hard to find a good man, but what i do blame them for is instead of working to improve the relationships between black men and women, they cope out and run to a white man. I can't stand black women who, just because they have been hurt in previous relationships, are resentful, bitter and shun off all black men as a means of spite and revenge. Or women who say " theyre just arent any good black men" when really they are just covering up their preference for whtie men. I cant stand black men who do the same.

I was thinking about a Freind of mine. She was letting me watch her video of Goree Island and she seemed so down about it. When I asked her about the problem, she said that some of the Black people she let seen the video downed her about the White people that she interviewed in the video. Even her native was furious about it. It really hurted her feelings. Then I assured her that a good "journalist"( She's not really a journalist but she played one on her trip to her home land) is a person who get the presepctive of all people , not just on set of people. I said this because, I was in church and I was talking to a well known local( and even for the entire US) African American journalist about the elements of being a good journalist and she was telling me the same thing" That a good journalist is one who isn't biased with her reporting). She was the first African-American woman be a lead anchor woman in my state( That was almost 40 years ago). She had to endure a lot of racial pressure to get where she 's at. Now years later, there are many African American journalist, male and female. It was this journalist to open the door for many of them and I commend her for her bravery.
Although Sanaa is no pioneer in acting, I think that she's a great actress. I think that she should be able to star in whaever picture out there as long as she isn't degrading Black people and long as it is in good taste. I don't see nothing wrong with staring in role with Black actors, White actors orwhatever race the actor is as long as like I said, she's acting in good taste. Far as her love interest being White, it's no being deal to me. Far as I'm concerned , he's just another man who happens to be White. She's not a sell-out. Most of the pictures she's been in , her love interest has always been brothers. The men in her life has always been brothers, but she said that she has only dated one White man and that was when she was in high school( She's about my age now) because the school that she attended didn't have a lot of us in it.I've never heard of her disssing Black men or people in general.Great actors/actresses are those who are diversified in the roles and those who are great actors. When you see people like Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Butterfly McQueen or Sidney Pointier many of them just didn't take only " Black roles". It's like a job, many of us had to go into different positions before we got what we wanted. It;s the same with Sanaa. I think she took the role because it probably was something new to her and she was just klooking for a " job". When it comes to Black actors, I think that we should support them no matter what. People like Butterfly McQueen came a long way to help other Black actors/actresses get to where they are. When it comes to Holloywood, it's not friendly to Black actors/actresses. I'm just glad that people like Sanaa is trying to open more doors for other Black actresses.

Not only did she make a movie which basically tells black women to find white men if they want to be in good relationships but then she went and spewed crap about black men in an interview. The woman is sad. She's not better than Wesley Snipes so yes like Prince Hakeem said, "To hell with her".

The percentage of black woman 16 and older? What?! Why, when attempting to present accurate statistics would one count teeagers!? Since when was it ever commonplace for kids who havent even finished hight school to get married?Or better yet, since when is it common for women who havent even finished college to up and get married? I dont know about you, but something seems fishy about this stat. The ages for which they are taking their stats are far too low, resulting in the high percentage of black women who they claim "have never been married"

Exactly... you know how poor white females get married at a young age. Black people under 30 live together for the most part. You can skew statistics any way you would like.
Cee Cee, that's comparing apples and oranges, if it's not such a big deal so much why aren't there more roles withblack men and white women in opposite romantic leads.
