BurningSpear,

I will admit part of me want to see it, while the other part say it just a reminder of a " Boys in the hood kind" of movie and not see it. Being a native of the ATL, I'm just curious about a lot of things about it, particularily, with it coming from Atlanta. Typically, when you see those " moving up " kind of movies, it mainly centers around people in LA,New York or Chicago. But this is coming from a Southeastern perspective. Th eobnly thing about it is that it's going make us seem that every Black man in Atlanta have to dream and struggle when in actuality you find many of them dreaming and making their dreams come true.

What about movies from Black people from the UK? Why is everything from the Black American's perspective?

Yes, we share many things, but there are some experiences that are UNIQUE TO US.

Blackneck,

Agreed.

2deal2,

Since the movie was made in the US and is is based on African-Americans from the Deep South , that is why I'm interested in it. Being from the ATL and the Southeast, I give this movie a shot because, this is a story about guys who want to make it out of the Ghettos/poverty in the South. Like I said most time when you look at movies like this it's always centered in Los Angeles , Chicago or New York. When you think about the Southeast, some people really don't believe that it has that kind of a dark side to it. Being from there, I know people who have this crazy belief that every Black person in Atl is rich. While may of us are doing well, there are also some of us who are struggling and who like some of those guys in the movie who are living those rough lives in the inner city> While the movie about getting out of the hood isn't unique, the fact that it;s being made from a Southeastern perspective is.In general, I like seeing the perspectives of movies from teh Black diaspora. In the states, we don't have Black British movies that come here.. It has nothing to with not being interested in it, it just that we're being presented with here.
