You know I have to single out the Jafakean ones first:

1 - How Stella Got Her Groove Back

Apart from disregarding his sistas for some bluefoot, this has to be Taye Diggs' most atrocious crime! What the frenchconnectionuk kind of accent was that?!?!? I mean for goodness sake, man!! Where do I start? He didn't even TRY to make an effort.

2 - Get Rich Or Die Trying

Ashley Walters, maaaaan....no disrespect to AA's but they don't do good Jamaican accents at all. For someone from South London sides I expected a LOT better than that!! LOL at "stuck up beeetch"!

3 - Cool Runnings

Loved the story and everything, but you just have to bust out laughing everytime you hear that "you iz a bad ass" line...

4 - The Mighty Quinn

Nuff said!!

More to come......

The Mockney accents in Green street.  Drama school kids can't do street accents.  It just doesn't work.  Ask some of the fakers in Eastenders

You forgot the great Denzel Washington in the Mighty Quinn...his Jamaican accent was just terrible....

Then there was dick van dyke in the bedknobs and broomsticks, the original mockney accent...

There have been many atrocious "Carribean" accents offered up by our African/American British actors some of which have already been mentioned.

There is s a series on here in the UK called Life on Mars where the bartender is supposed to be Jamaican-sh:shock:cking thespian skills on this blokes part, the accent is sub-standard to say the least,I know White folks that can do a more authentic accent than this guy.

But the most appalling accent and the one which still gives me joke is not from an African, this one is from The Hunt for Red October where Sean Connery is meant to be Russian, they start the film out with everyone speaking Russian and they gradually morph into all the Russians speaking English and Connery makes ZERO attempt to modify his heavy Scottish accent,in fact I dont believe Connery is capable of doing any other accent than the one he speaks in.

I remember when i used to watch 'enders how michelle's daughter i.e. sharon's sister's accent went from American (which was crap to begin with) to cockney over night. Heads were trying to take the audience for idiots!headpoint

The worst fake accents are in Alexander. The film is about a legendary Greek yet they all sound Irish. I mean the film is shocking anyway but it's like Colin Farell couldn't do the accent so they made everyone sound the same as him!!!!

The flat/nasal voice quality of Marianne Jean-Baptiste's character in Without a Trace sets my teeth on edge everytime her character opens her mouth to speak.

It's also quite obvious that she has to exercise a lot of control to maintain that fake accent she's conjured up. [Exactly what type of American accent is she aiming for anyway?  Brooklyn Jew?]

Yeah I know that....my point is that they don't even sound like Jamaicans even without the slang words and that there's no consistency in the intonation.

Anyone who watched the last episode of Without a Trace saw TV history

The absolute WORST African accent in the history of mankind, performed by former Sunset Beach man Jason George

Awful. Although man is now on Lost, whenever TV want a stereotypical African dictator/criminal/casaanova they should look no further then Adebisi from Oz

His normal voice sounds like a born and bred Londoner, but he can turn on the accent like a light switch

As for films

Eddie Murhy in Coming To America

Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins

Nah have to take issue with you on the Eddie accent, not just coz I really like that movie and that if there were any just or fairness in The Academy award process Eddie would have nominated for his role(S).........but sadly they very rarely acknowledge comedies, especially not Black ones.

Anyway back to my point, from what I remember in that flick Eddie was from a non-specifc,ficitonal African country, therefore, how could his accent have been bad if that country doesnt actually existconfused3what he did was an amalgam of various African-y type accents.........and anyway Eddie is master mimic when he is on form, even in this movie he did an impression of an old Jewish man at the end which was so SPOT ON I was smacked of Gob!

PHONE BOOTH

The black guy who was selling some stuff beside the phone booth spoke SWAHILI which was terrible

LARA CROFT-the last one...cradle of civilization...

Djimon Hounsou speaking swahili...very stupid idea...hollywood keeps f**king up with swalihili like they used to when they had those Black and White films but the difference is now they have black actors who dont know it or have worst swahili tutors

CONSTANT GARDNER

Well black Kenyans really tried even though their Swalihi is always terrible anyway

Rachel Weitz-her swahili was much better that Ralph Fiens (not sure with the spelling )  one

BLACK HAWK DOWN-by Ridley Scott]

The setting..morocco but no resemblence to Mogadishu

Somalians...Nigerians with their big bodies as somalis..stupid& since when did West Africans had cush*tic features

Accent-fake somali accent

the film-rubbish

cinematography-excellent

Lord of the Rings:

Sean Astin

Elijah Wood

Really bad European accents.

Something the lord made:

Alan Rickman, no one from Tennessee or the south sounds like that.

For Queen and Country:

Denzel Washington gave it a valiant effort but came up way short on the English accent.

I take it none of you have had the misfortune of watching "On deadly ground".  It has Ice Cube in South Africa... with Liz Hurley

In that movie Hurley's Boer accent is laughable but Ving Rames as a nigerian chicken foot sucking drug dealing is too stupid for adults to take in!
