DM we can look it at whichever way we choose to. The first Black actor to win an Oscar could be construed as tokenism if you apply the same reasoning.
I cannont see any reason for not having a BB as i can visualise one making a good film....The End
Ask yourself, isnt the reason why you feel there shouldnt be a BB because you too have accepted the idea of white elitism, when in actuall fact there is no good reason why there shouldnt be.?
Its just a school thought over a character.

no "buying into white elitism" here
I can watch Spooks and spy shows and I'm comfortable seeing black spys. If they made a brand new spy flick with a black character I'd watch and enjoy it. Why should the REWRITE a character to be something he isn't? Halle Berry has played a black American spy with Bond. Michelle Yeouh played a Chinese one. Why not have another black double 0 spy? We know there are more of them. Remember double 0 six from Goldeneye flick (Sean Bean) so a black guy could be one of them.
James is white and that's that.
By your logic how about making Speedy Gonzalez a chinese mouse?  Urgh! 
Why not a new chinese hero of their own with a next name instead... get me?

No because there IS a reason why not here and that is because of the name Gonzalez, its a Spanish name end of.
That logic doesnt apply with Bond.
James Bond could be an English black disporian and yes there could be a black special agent. So why not?
