For me it has to be Jackie Chan's "Drunken Master" what a classic, I just love those old school dubbed movies. Another one in contention would be "Snake in the Eagle shadow" and Bruce Lee's "The Big Boss".
Blockbuster actually sell the whole collection.

@ LIONO
Drunken Master was excellent no doubt, you can see from my name it's one of my favourits, along with Snake in the Monkey's shadow.
Jackie Chan's best movie easily.
This is dramatic. It's one of the rare films where Jackie dies
A Donnie Yen masterpeice from the early 90s, look out for the little boy. Donnie Yen is a badman with his legs.
Classic Hwang Jan Li at his best. Badman lyrics all the way.
Breathtaking. One of John Woo's earliest films and a masterpeice. The best swordplay movie. The amount of double crossing makes "wild things" look tame lol.
Pure and utter rank stupidity... but a hella fun!!
However
*drum roll*
You asked for the BEST OF ALL TIME??? THIS IS MY CHOICE...
The best Kung Fu movie all round. No arguments. Perfect storyline, perfect action.
BUT BUT BUT
NOW FOR THE NON KUNG-FU martial arts movies
It's the first 2 or 3 episodes of the long and drawn out "lone wolf and cub" saga. For storyline and realism of fighting then this Japanese one is essential. You NEED this in your collection.
Best one of the last 5 years. This is frigging fantastic. It's a Japanese Samurai one as opposed to being Kung fu but deserves a mention anyway. Mad special effects and so on, it's just BEGGING for a sequel.
This one is a Thai film about Kick boxing. Only about 2 years old yet it's a great one two. The realistic fights are very believable.
You might want to pick up Sword of doom and samurai assassin but they are a bit dated now.

@Drunk Monkey I agree with your selection especially Invincible Armour what a classic. I have never seen Aszumi i'm gonna have to check this one out.
The man of the moment has to be Jet Li, I like the new school kung fu movies but they always seem to make them with a black comedian ie Hong Kong police man teaming up with an American cop. I think Jackie Chan started that off with Rush Hour i'd like to see more old school type ie set in ancient times.

Liono
Anything made outside of Asia is officially crap. Anything Jackie Chan did after first strike is crap. including that movie. Anything Jet Li did after moving to Hollywood is sh*t. ALL of it. It might be amusing comedy or drama but not quality martial arts.
Even the modern asian cinema is too concerned with putting pretty chicks who can't fight on strings instead of using real martial artists. Crouching Tiger and dem ting deh.... crap!! Oh and magical special effects. Ever since "evil cult" in the 90s the effects have got more ridicolous. Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu hustle might be FUNNY but you wouldn't watch them for the beef and fighting like before.
I'm OLD skool all the way!
Hong Kong Cinema is too American influenced now. It's hard to tell them apart.
The Japanese however are making some good films you need to check out.

DrunkMonkey sorry, Iron Monkey, closely followed by Snake in Monkey's Shadow(got that one on DVD).
One point, I remember seeing the snake film at 'late night' at the Odeon in Croydon. At the beginning when there was the fight between a Snake and a Monkey. I'm sure it ended with the Monkey biting the snake, but subsequent viewing seems to delete it. I'm sure I was not seeing things.
Also the fight between the Monkey and the Eagle, in 'Iron Monkey', at the start always fascinated me, how they do that?

In order..
Warriors 2 and The Prodigal Son - that's the best fighting I've seen in any kung-fu film - Wing Chung at its best.
Drunken Master - an all round classic
Crystal Fist - Billy Chong uses the Shadow Eagle claw to duss out the blind man and the deaf man.
Secret Rivals I and II
Enter the dragon is probably the best 'real' kung fu film ever made.

I've got them both but I've yet to watch any of them.
I have to say that the first one looks fantastic from the clips I've seen. Plus I know you've got good taste since you said Fist of Legend is the best Kung Fu movie you've seen. I fully agree.

These are my favourite Americankung fu movies:
American Ninja (but they went a bit crazy I think they made about 5, think it was the one with the girl from Breakdance Special K)
No Retreat no Surrender (who can forget Jean Claude Van Damme in the white suite, I think this was the one where he went to Bruce Lee's grave and he came and taught him Kung-fu)

Kick Boxer Starring Jean Claude Van Damme brilliant with Bolo from Enter the Dragon. I think Jean Claude van Damme round house kick is still my favourite move I just love the way he does it.
I think they made six of these movies which I didn't realise until looking this up

1) Drunken Master- classic in every respect
2) Enter the Dragon- Bruce is just mean, glad I weren't an extra in this flick
3) Hero - Could of done with more fight scenes but this film is deep, commy' undertones aside, Jet Li can't do alot acting wise, but what he can do (looking serious), he does well. Come on how prang would you be if you owed this dude some money?
Left of field, best movie fight scenes include;
Neo- Smith on the underground/ opening scene in Hero with blindman playing the string instrument in background (profound)/ Chuck- Bruce in the stadium and Chow YF, police officer w/ daughter- Jade fox- Ziyi Zhang!!!

I thought I would mention-If anyone has every taken note-that in the movie EXECUTIONERS FROM SHAOLIN,there appears to be an extra 'treat' besides the usual above standard fight-scenes, as well as excellent writing and choreography.
I don't know-yet-if it is intentional, and it is unusual to have much of any presence of Japanese anything in a Chinese Kung Fu film. But there is also the film's score.
Or does anyone else notice that some of the best fight scenes are scored with the music of the Japanese composer Akira Ifukube(1914- ), Godzilla movie score-meister and inventor of the monsters signture roar)?
I am not certain of any particular score for any film containing the exact movements played in this film (Ifukube's music has a foundation of movements upon which many of his scores are based)-It sound as if borrowed from one or other Kaiju films, not necessarily a Godzilla movie, perhaps "War of the Gargantuas" or "Frankenstien Conquers the World", the music of which is a bit more serene and spacey than the bigger sound produced for the common Godzilla stomp-o-thon movie.
I wonder if in fact this score is not borrowed?

Mad Monkey kung fu was hilarious! I like the last punch, where he hits with the fingertips, knuckles and palm in one move.

Drunken Monkey
You know that Liu Cha Liang (who plays the lead role) also directed this film?
Other notes of interest:
Lo Lieh died in 2002
Tommy Lee (Gam Ming) is noted for his unusual roles. In "Along Came a Tiger" he also plays a mysterious hunchbached tyrant who appears at the end of the film. Gam Ming also choreographed "Eagle's Claws", starring Don Wong.
Alexander Fu Sheg (The Chinatown Kid) bought Bruce Lee's house and lived in it until his death in a car crash in 1983.
Hwang Jang Lee (Thunder kick of Drunken Master) actually killed a man in 30 seconds who challenged him in a fight. He also is the ORIGINAL SILVER FOX (Secret Rivals).
Gordon Liu (Master Killer) played Pai Mei in KILL BILL VOL. 2 He also played the masked leader of the Crazy 88's in Vol. 1. Gordon Liu is rumored to be a descendant of the REAL Pai Mei.

I love Hwang Jan Lee. I posted a big ass thing on him in another thread. Undistputedly the best villain in ANY film he was in.
The other names you mentioned, I know them by face or nicknames of the characters I associate them with. No idea what Sam Seed's real name is but everyone calls him Sam Seed and he is recogniseable in all movies if you follow what I mean.
Who is the chick who played Jackie's aunt in drunken master? The one who beat him up and did some crazy kick on his head LOL

Sam the Seed died in 1979. His real name is Simon Yuen Siu-tin.
Jackie (Fei-hung) Chan's aunt in Drunken Master was Linda Yin Ying.
My favorite actors are always the leg-boxers.
Hwang Jang Lee (of course) is a great professional boxer (Korean)-And also Tan Tao-liang (Captain Tung-chueng) , another Korean (Hapkido) boxer from "Hot, Cool and the Vicious".
Finally there's John Liu Chung-liang. Who can forget the "Mysterious Hand" from Dragon on Fire?
