Dont go, its really really pants. The first half hour is REALLY DULL, TALKY & SLOW. The next half hour is DULLER, MORE TALK and SLOWER. Afterwards is cliche, stupid dialogue and boredom. There is a good story in there struggling to get out: rich white people pay for clones of themselves to be developed in a high tech laboraory-turned-prison The clones are bred for their body parts - to be harvested when their rich owners fall seriously ill. Clones are like insurance. Trouble is, that interesting idea doesnt get a proper exposition in the first half hour. Instead we are made to believe the lie, fed to the clones, that they are special beings saved from a post apocalyptic meltdown. Big Mistake because when its time for The Shock of Revelation it comes like a whimper, not a shock. Where does the Island fit in, I hear you ask? Well to prevent the clones questioning their pretty odd, pampered yet regimented reality in what is a high tech version of BIg Brother, the corporation who own the prison (for want of a better owrd) invent a diversonary weekly? lottery in which the winner is released and taken to The Island - a mythical place of great beauty, happiness and freedom.
No more spoilers but just to say production values i.e look of the film, the effects, the leading actors are all top drawer. THere are some touches I will remember for a long time e.g the flying bikes, nuclear powered! A chase scene in which giant iron objects are thrown from the back of a lorry - awsome scene - Scarlet Johansens lips and Ewan Macgregor brill acting. Plot wise though its REALY REALLY RUBBISH. No tension, just empty, empty and annoying. Go and see another film.

saw it on.... friday night.. hmmmm
its ok...
6/10
u have to be patient ..the first half hr is puzzling...
put it this way.. you have to "think" to really enjoy this movie
its best point is probably the "concept"
the action is ok.. dull at times...
the leading lady is damn fine... scarlet johaneson ... forget angelina jolie...
anyway..
its worth watchin.. if your into movies that make you think...

yeah luke, I was thinking "what a load of rubbish" and "I wonder if the audience is thinking what I am thinking" Strangely enuf it didnt help me to get into the picture, nor did it help several members of the audience who just drifted out, one by one.
LOL
