| I watched bits and peices of this movie called White Teeth about London life and it's diversity, has anyone else seen it? What did you think of it?

| The book (which I have not read) and the author get SO much hype and publicity over here it's crazy. It's as if other black people didn't write about London life before and nobody else does now. Makes me annoyed. Not that Zadie Smith herself has done anything to annoy me, it's the hype I don't like. I didn't like the TV show, though how well that reflects the book I leave to those who read it.

LOL fair enough
What I meant was that for them, mixed race = black or at least it did until very recently. You might think so what? but when you think of the stats they spread throughout the system, ie interacial dating or absent father stats which they present to you as "black" stats... it is a distorted picture at present.
Dunno why I went off on this tangent but Im explaining the media over here. Zadie Smith was what we were discusing.
The TV show to me did not seem like London. Not the London I recognize.

I understand. Are there any predominatly Black neighborhoods in London? What's the London you recognize?

| My friend from Leeds hipped me to the book.It was very good,but she seem to go out of her way to de-emphasis Blacks.To be honest the Black presence in the book was fringe -at best.
