Has anyone seen this?  THIS is what a modern matial arts action movie should be.  No flying, no magic, no nonsense... straight beef and banging in the face!

I love the Mu Tai action, it's different to watching Hong Kong cinema or US cinema.  The knees and elbows motion is fantastic, the fighting is minimal and real, not long obviously choreographed and silly.  This had a strong dose of gritty realism in it.  I just downloaded yesterday and watched it... man Im gonna watch this a few times more.

I was PISSSSSSSSSEDDD that I didnt see this at the movies

I'm going get it on DVD though. It looks GRIMY. It has raised the bar for Martial Arts Films just like Sin City has for Comic Adaptions

Even my bro who i a self confessed Jet Li groupie told me the film action is sick. No wires, no joke

Defo gona get me this film.

@ drunk, do you know of any other old school martial art films that dont play with wires, cgi and what not. Out and out gritty martial arts. If you could give me a short list or point me in the right direction I would be greatful

Cash...

This one may be hard to find but I think it's one of the best of all time.  THE LAST HURRAH FOR CHIVALRY.  I think its a John Woo one... It's almost a perfect film.

In general I would say stick to the 70s and 80s movies though a lot of them suffer from cornyness and cheese lol.  Just as there are many gems, there are hundreds more dry contrived FORMULA movies you should stick away from.

I like Jet Li myself when he isn't flying but to be honest, that is central to him.  His best movies, Tai Chi, Once upon a time, Fong Sai Yuk etc etc... all those films had flying and wires.  I must say though that the best Jet Li film is Fist of Legend and that does not.  That is classic action, early 90s I think.  That is a fantastic film.

That list I gave you in the favourite villains thread has some great action...

If you can take REAL old school stuff, not many can lol then try to seek out another rare one called simply Leg Fighters.  It is cheesy as hell but the action is cool.
