@burning, what he hell is the directors doing by casting Keery Washington as Alicia Masters, what next, Samuel L Jackson as Captain America, Brad Pitt as shaft. As areader of the comic books that nnoyed me even moreso then Kingpin being Michael Clarke Duncan
I'll still watch it, but its still stupid

They call it "color-blind" casting.Remember that Pete Ross in "Smallville" is Black also.
At first I though FF would suck, but the previews look decent. It will be somewhere between Xmen and Daredevil.

Batman and all other DC comic superheroes suck! Was never a Batman fan and never will be. I heard the film is rubbish anyway. I won't even judge it for myself.
The Fantastic Four previews look the business and I'm strongly anticipating it's release.

superhero movies are ver hit and miss affairs at the best of times:
hulk: spot on creature, but soooooo boring
punisher:the punisher is a crazed, psycho killing machine, with absolutely no mercy...the movie guy went around scheming up plots to get the bad guy. you also know the film is garbage from the posters which give john travolta equal hype to the punisher to sell the film. half the poster is travoltas face. it should have been the punisher on the cover with a veerry big gun.
xmen: wolverine? 6 foot 3" hugh jackman playing 5 ft 3" wolverine with a nicely coiffered hairstyle fresh from the salon. wolverine is supposed to be akin to a rough animal. halle berry...storm? where the hell did they get that f u cked up wig? and what happened to her accent from the first movie? i could go on......
daredevil:the movie guy goes blind, but winds up as a super martial artist when he grows up? what happened to his training from the comic books? elektra kicked his arse too....black kingpin? garbage. what, they couldnt shave off wrestler 'big shows' head and suit him up for the role? worst adaptation ever!
batman: weedy michael keaton who looks like a 7 stone weakling playing batman? body armour for his suit? hows he move? why not a 'leather style suit ala daredevil, with a cape? the sequels were just dumb. the new batmans helmet looks stupid, and he is going around in some armour like a medievel knight. how can he fight edffectively? bale also is too weedy. if you look at him in the shaft remake next to sam jackson, he looks like a boy.
superman: best casting ever. reeves was superman.1 and 2 were best superhero adaptations in my eyes...3 and 4? worst.
finally, the ff movie does not fill me with excitement. it looks very 'mtv'. and that guy from 'nip tuck' as doom???????
war of the worlds will be the big fantasy blockbuster this year.

I think Christian Bale (Batman) and Cillian Murphy (Dr. Crane) really carried the movie...along with the actor who played the bulter because his geniune faith love and support for Bruce Wayne was heart-warming.
The movie actually had a complex plot, contrary to what I expected from a superhero movie. This one was definitely more complex than the others. It is long, but I lost track of time because it was very engaging.
I think Katie Holmes could have been replace. She had no appeal for me. She just didn't fit the role and her acting was average. She didn't stand out. But Cillian Murphy (Dr. Crane) was the most captivating. I mean he just BECAME his character and was very convincing as the manipulative and cunning psychiatrist.
Speaking of psychiatry....I didn't like the one-dimensional way in which they presented mentally ill inmates. Actually they portrayed them all as "faking it" and as all being brute animals who are monolithically violent. Only about 1% of defendents use the insanity plea and about half of them receive the verdict "not guilty by reason of insanity" so I think their portrayal of criminals conveniently getting off or getting through the loopholes of justice on mental illness like it was a common occurence was a gross overestimation of the how many actually successfully use the insanity plea.
But overall:

Well glad you liked it.
Im off to see it tonight.
Just read one review which did say the film is overly complex & too dark.
Which would alienate non comic book fans of the Dark Knight.
Well after Batman & Robin the darker the better please.
Will let you know my feelings on this next week.

Yeah it was definitely different from the previous movies. You saw a more complex batman with actual human emotions and psychological/emotional growth. Yeah make sure to tell me next week how it went for you

seen only a 15 mins clip and heard good things about this movie being a batman fan im glad they went back the dark knight way, the rest of the former movies were so camp and colourfully unappealling, it became a joke, besides christain bail seems like the best bruce wayne so far for the movies

I just came back from Batman Begins...
BLOODY BRILLIANT!! EXCELLENT MOVIE.
Normally comic movies are terrible and huge dissapointments. The first Batman was OK... ish. The following ones were so bad... so so bad. I don't know why I saw this one.
The only good comic movies I rate are Superman1, Blade 1 & 2, Spiderman 1 & 2... some others were ok but those few were great. I rate this new Batman movie up there with them... One of the best comic movies ever IMO.
Great action scenes, proper respectful tone (no sneering smugness and trying to be ironic), brilliant plot and very decent acting. Batman was more of an actual person this time than a two dimensional cutout...
@ Timeline, those mentally ill patients were not normal mentally ill people, they were being fed a psychotropic drug... by the villain... I wont say to much more to not spoil it but it's not a representation of the mentally ill because the patients before the drug were NOT mentally ill, remember?
@ Daywalker, Batman one was OK but TWO was spoiled by its darkness... it was way too morbid and Penguin was a bit too much... Three and four tried to compensate by making it all a joke but that was annoying.
This one has the balance right I think. It's a serious movie (well as serious as you can be about Batman LOL) but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Well
I LOVED IT ...............
They got the balance just right.
I like how Chris Nolan said ok to hell with what has happened before we are going to do this film our way.
The film treated the movie fans like grown ups !!!!
There was proper growth in this movie.
Ok batman is a comic book but you could say yeah ok that could work unlike a lot of movies where you just say "YEAH RIGHT".
The suit is a military suit made by wayne enterprises so is the batmobile which in the context of the story kind of makes sence.
The acting & casting is just spot on.
Ok Katie Holmes is not that good BUT the rest of the cast are great.
Micheal Cane - when they cast him as Alfred I was not sure but he pulls it off
Christian Bale - Ohhhh does he pull it off. I reacon he is now Batman for life.
Liam Neeson - As good as ever.
Gary Oldman - Pulls it off. Great casting
Morgan Freeman - Need I say more. Morgan Freeman is just a class act.
Tom Wilkinson - Is this the same bloke from the Full Monty & Rush Hour !!! One of the Uk's finest I think he does really well with the accent. It would be interesting to hear what any amercans out there thought of the accent.
Cillian Murphy - Very good !!!!
The best Batman ever & long may it contiune.
My favourate comic book adaptation to date.

Thought it was alright
Spent too much background time and didnt kick enough ass. I loved the way he was moving though. He's behind you. Pow!! Gone. That what batman is abut
Gonna be interesting to see thes equel. Who is gonna play the joker. They have a tough act to follow because Jack Nicholson was imperious as the joker. Born to play it
Freeman and Caine repped it for the oldies. As ststed, Katie Holmes far too young to be a assistant DA,
I spotted about 3 british blacks in there and that was good although roles were small. All in all, good movie

I agree that Jack Nicholson was a perfect Joker. He even has the natural facial features for the part (i.e. a "joker" with or without the make-up) lol
Yeah, I agree that Katie Holmes looked way to young to be an assistant DA. Cillian Murphy looked really young to be a psychiatrist as well but he did such a good job playing Dr. Crane that you weren't really reminded of his age until he removed his glasses periodically.

i personally hated nicholsons 'joker'. he overpowered the film, and overshadowed the guy who was supposed to be the main man in the flick.and i know i am in the minority, but to me he just looked like some fat old guy overacting.
and that film was borinnnnng to rass. any film that has a superhero only really having one big fist fight ( with some black guy near the end) to me is a collossal failure.
killer 'mimes'/unicyclists?? what the hell was that director on? he was the real joker in my opinion. the new batman is a massive improvement but is by no means perfect.
i hated michael keatons/val kilmers/george clooneys batman! all those films sucked balls. visually impressive yes, but empty and soulless. batman had no personality and was just portrayed as a franchise where you can just change the actor playing the hero every five minutes and it made no difference. warner bros treated us like morons. can you see the people behind spiderman changing tobey maguire for a new actor every sequel? would the audience just say ' so what'? exactly.
