Some movies I liked but can't really consider them good. I liked
"All about the Benjamins","Shaka Zulu","Malcom X","friday","the Wood",and "Glory".Most of the movies I liked were already mentioned. I can't really consider "Blade" as a "black movie" b/c he was just a comic book character. Thats like calling spiderman a "white movie".

The spook who sat by the door
Starring Lawrence Cook Straight out revolution film must see for every black person its time to get organised.
Lets do it again
For the reasons Drunk monkey mention as well as the theme song being one of my favourite rare grooves when biggy the rapper first entered the frame in the early 90’s with R n b b**ch and nobody weren’t feeling him yet I remember thinking I know where u got that name from and even thought of naming myself Bootney Farnsworth in retaliation lol
Roots
Nuff said!
Trading palaces
I know it weren’t solely black but Eddie Murphy was all we had in the main stream back in 83 plus the theme was highlighting a black issue where powerful white men could make or break what they deem to believe the lowest kind of black person at the touch of a hat which (or just for a $1) still rings true to this very day 22 years later so tell me what’s changed?
For Queen and country
Denzil Washington in an early role playing a ex British soldier coming back to London and getting caught up in all sorts of bullsh*t in the London Ghettos dealing with the corrupt metropolitan police some of it was even filmed on one of the estates in South London Junction I think! although his fake Cockney accent is hilarious but a bad boy film still
School daze
Spike lee Light skin verses dark skin debate first brought to the fore with various Cameos from up and coming black actors who are now house hold names in black houses lol
House party
Kid n play with there ludicrous high tops captured the essence of what hip hop was really all about
Boyz in the hood
Ice Cubes acting debut was a Ground braking hood story with a constructive story line which covered issues from single parents on both sides male/female the consequences of favouritism by a parent the importance of fathers to there sons police harassment as well as promoting education and safe sex.
Boomerang
Even If only it being the first all star black cast Grace Jones, Eartha Kitt and Martin Laurence aimed only at a black audience not to mention all the fit sistas getting me hype Halle Berry (In her original form) was the spitting image of a child hood sweet heart now an ex lol also Eddie Murphy getting p***y whipped by Robin Givens and Chris rock trying to persuade Eddie Murphy to give him a pay rise after only being in the job for 3 weeks and for coming to work even though it was raining LOL
Young girl from the IRT
Its not ground breaking but simply bcoz it didn’t follow down the stereo typical lines I thought it was going to young black girl gets pregnant black male runs and leaves her but it was quite positive although underrated.
Jungle fever
The way Wesley sexed off the Italian tings in the office had me wondering for a minute lol and the war council in the front room with the sista’s when spike Lee sold him out and the reaction from the sistas in the cinema to the Queen Latifah diss when Wesley try bring his new whitey to flex in the hood.
CB4
Has to be one of the most underrated films of the 90’s era Chris Rock exposing rappers and there fake lives as a studio Gangstas. Whacky D = MC Hammer and CB4 = NWA that was my take on it anyway but u really got to be into rap to appreciate the story in its entirety.
Deep cover
The original going into 2 deep before LL and Omar Epps went there. Larry Fishburne thugging it as an under cover cop. The beginning of that film was a killer was when the little short white police sergeant was recruiting for a black officer to go under cover the question he ask them was “What’s the difference between a Blackman and a N!gga? and when that dumb police black officer couldn’t answer the white sergeant replied most N!gga’s don’t I thought bloody cheek but then I’m inclined to agree with him. Plus the introduction of Snoop on the bumping sound track “yeah and u don’t stop coz it 1-8-7 on an under coooop.
Bamboozled
Another Spike Lee classic nothing done change N!ggas are still cooning for there money in true Mantan and Sleep and eat fashion.
Baby boy
Another John Singleton classic just like Boyz in The hood it covered more angles than just the Narrow minded hood banger scenario issues from wotless baby father multiple baby mom’s the step father step son situation (Ving Rhames waxing the mum and drinking all the cool aid lol) young teens chucking it on the bigger man as well as a grimy snoop coming out of jail and trying to get back with his girl who is now Tyrese's baby moms best acting I’ve seen snoop do so far may be bcoz he didn’t need to lol but Tyrese’s acting was also immaculate could highly relate to everything be said.
Shottas
Spragga Benz personified the typical yard gangsta mentality from rags to riches set in Jamaica ending in America as well as exposing how corrupt politicians exploit the poverty of the yard Ghetto’s violent but well acted and well researched.
But a lot of the other films some of u mentioned as being good I could rip to peaces as the writers and directors lack imagination especially when casting the roles.
Best Man
The wood
The Brothers
I mean all of those films almost blend into one with the main actors interchanging between each movie the cast and the overall plot are so damn similar it easy to mistake one for the other but the Best man did give me joke though.
Love and Basket ball
Brown Sugar
Apart from Sanaa Lathan staring in both films is it only me that thinks the plots and Ideas are to similar with her knowing both Omar Epps (labb) and Taye Diggs (bs) respectively in each film from being childhood sweethearts and eventually getting it on after perusing separate paths.
Diary of a mad black woman
It was a good concept but a tad bit overrated by some of u on here I thought Helen (Kimberley Elise the mad black woman lol) could have been much more horrible for a longer period of time before fixing up considering she got dragged out by her hair and kick out onto the street anyway don’t wanna be a kill joy so I’ll leave it there.
Peace.
