you know these mainstream black films - they have to throw in some token white people to make their target audience (fyi - their target audience isn't all black people) feel comfortable. there is probably an asian somewhere in there too from my experience of watching Barbershop.
i won't be watching this garbage...

Helping to sell the movie to the masses who would not pick up an ALL BLACK film. question is, should we be chasing their dollars or making movies soley for us? BTW I havent seen this yet so cant really comment.

| Does it even matter? The more important thing is, will this movie be a hit?

See usually i like Queen Latifah and I think she;s a good actress but movies like this I will pass on. Most of these movie makers are after the dollars. Meanwhile your movie becomes main stream and many white people like it, you lose your target audience. This is part of the reason why I dont watch hardly anything on UPN. Like the parkers, Half-N-half, this time around, Eve,Girlfriends or any of them shows. There all terrible in my view and are supposedly black shows but all have white people on them in leading roles too. Look at six on the parkers, or the white girl on Eve. Matter of fact I don't even watch that much T.V. because the crap I see just irritates me and starts a debate with however is around.
The movie looks wack as hell and from what I hear is kind of funny. Monique's Hairshop movie was kind of wack too. They showed have blended their talents together in one movie.
P.S. I hope Kevin bacon and Alicia silverstone have small roles like the lady at the resturant or the mailman rather then big roles where there someones white husband or wife or something.

I watched the film last night as it goes.......purchased from my little CHINESE friend in ASDA carpark.
The film is typical of the type of black films been churned out by Hollywood.....I was very surprised to see Kevin Bacon in the movie . Not so much Alicia Silverstone...her pairing up with Stacey Dash in Clueless ensured she won't get passed over for those white girl in-the-black-know roles.
I don't want to spoil the film, but personally I'm glad I did not pay to see it in the cinema because I would not have been happy. It's very predictable and the plot is nearly identical to Mo'nique "Hairshow" movie. Many stereotypical jokes, nothing that would have you bowled over.
However on a more positive note , we get to see Djimon Hounsou bare chested down.gif" ALT="blkbowdown">...........oooooooooohhhhhhhhh. YES PLEASE

| If ur the sort of person thats looks into the depths of films, criticise and find everyting stereotypical then u probably wouldn't like it. If u take it as light hearted comedy then u will find it ok.
