ASHANTI this is for you!! Right 
How can  Football compare to planet earth football??
- Your games last three hours
- The rules are way too complicated
- Nobody but you play it as a national sport
- They have 10 seconds of action and then stop to caht tactics for five minutes.
- The men wear tights.
- Its a sissys version of rugby. Even rugby which I don't like is played by more nations and has more fans.
- In PM you mentioned NFL Europe?? LOL full of NFL US rejects and nobody watches it. Its not on TV and they play to empty stadiums.
- I doubt you will find a non American who can name 10 players of that game.
Soccer is the dominant sport in Europe, Africa, South America and Asia
NFL is not even the dominant sport in US!!! surely its third after Baseball and Basketball??
Never compare the two again sister!!
Big steroid taking fatties and athletes in peak physical condition.... No comparison!

Let's see where do I start....with your version of SOCCER ....everybody knows that's the ghetto name for it so why don't you just call it that and be through with it instead of trying to confuse it with the real game of FOOTBALL...played by real MEN...not little sissy boys running around in shorts, and thigh high socks that went out of style when Earl the Pearl played basketball in the 70's. Oh wow...I can just see myself getting all excited over a guy getting hit in the head with a ball...WHOOPIE! NOT!...Sorry bro but I need something I can let loose to....like a hell mary touchdown pass for the winning score or an in and around run from behind the scrimmage line by a future hall of fame running back as he tip toes in the end zone for the go ahead score....and you call that boring I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!

OHHHHHHH so all that matters is how the men look??
Big sissys in tights and so much padding and you call them men??? that is a poofs game. A little girly version of rugby.
Men put warpaint on and hide behind armour and pads!! babies.
How can it be exciting watching them stand about for hours waiting for something to happen while annoying commentators reel off endless pointless stats and try to convince themselves its interesting??
The famous footballers like PELE and EUSEBIO and WEAH will live forever in peoples memories all over the whole wide world. Nobody outside your country can name your players and if you did we wouldn't know them.
I told you this in PM but I'll say it again...I never heard of you superbowl (is that right?) untill the Janet Jackson tittie thing and nobody I know has ever watched a game. The whole world watches the world cup!!!! more than Olympics so
ghetto? how can NFL be a ghetto game when you need all that sissy equipment?

Simple!! I don't watch for the beauty of the men but of the GAME!!!

Soccer is a far better spectacle than boring (yawn) NFL. Football goes on with far less stop start, the game is 45 mins a half so cutting down on the commercials that you guys love so much. The ebb and flow of a soccer game is inetense and nothing!! I repeat nothing can make a crowd feel the way they do at a soccer game. There is no other spectacle like it. I been to see Barcelona v Madrid in the Bernabeu stadium with 100000 mad Spanish people, and the atmosphere was electric. Some players like zidane and Ronaldinho can do things with the ball that make you stare in shock and amazement. They don't all bash into each other (protected like kids) and stop every 10 seconds.
As for the guys you named HA AH AH HA HA I have heard of only one of those players
OJ and thats becaue of the naked gun movies and the court case. Im aware that he was a player but *shrugs* so what??
Beckham is a well known footballer but he wouldn't make a modern hall of fame let alone an all time one!............and yet you still know him LOL Think of him like Annna Kournikova.
I can take a picture of Ronaldo to the Gambia or Peru, I can take it to Mongolia or the Ukraine and EVERYBODY would know who he is!!

@DM you crack me big time. 10 seconds of action then big talk. Wonder if those boys could actually take 45 minutes of full out gut slogging football. Being an ex baller myself in my youth 45 minutes can be hard in a fast moving attacking and counter attacking game.
10 seconds of action, cracks me. But basket ball got all those stoppages. Man we like to get to the point.
True uniforms look cool and the whole set up is visually powerful. But man all those padding they got there, like walking around with your bed mattress strapped around you.
Now not like rugby with those ugly boys banging heads and tearing parts of each other.
Only downside. The US cheerleaders look far superior than the "trentons" and dry blue foot girls we got here in their football shirts. ...Yuk...Bring on the US dancing girls with their big routines and flips and razzle dazzle and short skirts...Then I am as American as Don King himself..

Ronaldo is a Brazillian!!! he has played and broken records in Brazil, the Netherlands, Italy and Spain. He has never played for a team in the UK so over there means planet earth not America and your ONE country out of over 200 so you not knowing something we all do makes YOU silly. Us not knowing about your cute little local pastime makes is irrelevant HA HA HA.
I went to germany last year with my job and in the park we met some Turkish guys (germany has a lot of immigrants from there). We couldn't talk each others language but we had a kick about and played soccer and bonded that way.
That could happen in any place on planet earth except the US so

@SHANTAY......SLOW DOWN GIRL.....The Englishman has inflicted many attrocities on this earth. But god gave them a temporary reprieve when they invented football,followed by cricket.
Football, proper football is the worlds most popualar game and most exciting which is why it is so popular. Man you been watching ESPN broadcast of 4th division football or something, women's football probably. Some look like men so the confusion is understandable.
But you can't beat a Ryan Giggs tearing the arse out of an Arsenal team in a FA cup semi. or a Dennis Berkhamp's mastery and execution....
They don't call it the BUEATIFUL GAME world over for nothing...

The other point is that your sport can't raise half the emotion soccer can. Wars have been fought over soccer (its true look it up). When a Columbian player missed a penalty in a shoot out in USA 94 he was shot dead on his return home. The whole of Columbia hated that guy!!! while that is clearly too far (latinos are nuts!!) Its a demonstration of how the passions of a nation are carried by its soccer team. I don't think you've ever experienced that because all the sports the world plays, America doesn't do well in (except athletics you guys are good at that). This means you never watched your nation go head to head with another one in a competitive sports game!! Your whole pride on the line...
I went to see Nigeria v Jamiaca as a neutral and let me tell you.............PASSION and PRIDE and EMOTION
Nothing like NFL were you stay seated the whole game read stats and eat hot dogs
Last week when England played Portugal HALF of the TV sets in the UK were watching. And most people were in pubs or watching collectively!!
I reckon nearly the whole population sat down and watched that game. Along with the whole popluation of Portugal too. People all over planet earth are watching this tournament now, just look at the thread Euro 2004 and watch us get excited to see countries weve never been to play soccer!!! thats the power and beauty of the game. I just watched Portugal play the Netherlands and I was well excited! me in the UK!! do you think that happens with NFL???? NOOOOO

NOW WHO ON EARTH IS COMPARING AMERICAN FOOTBALL TO THE REAL FOOTBALL!
No no no Ashanti, it can't be you.
There is just no comparing the two. American football is just big useless men knocking each other down, stopping starting stopping and starting, trying to get that odd shaped ball across a line. Its just rugby, but a very poor version LOL!
Now football, the game that has captured the world. A game, which when played properly, can hold millions of people across the world to their screen. Which country plays American football, apart from America? Who watches that nonsense apart from americans? People watching football can at least watch for 5 minutes and understand what is going on. hmmm now with american football, i can watch that game for days and unless someone explains what those big oafs are doing, i would just not be able to get it! IT IS BORING!
And what is all this nonsense about calling it soccer. It is football! How does soccer relate to the game itself. The word basket ball relates to the game, baseball relates to the game as well. SO THE WORD FOOTBALL RELATES TO THE GAME - THE IMPORTANCE OF THE FOOT AND THE BALL TO THE GAME! American football should be called - handball or bigarsemenrunningaroundlikeidiyotsball!

Boy,I see that the steretotypes are flying all over the place. First i must address the Football question.If the US is so sorry why didn't someone tell FIFA? Cuz I don't see England in the Top Ten. http://www.fifa.com
But a brother must digress.I'll address your points.
1. Three hours is not game length with timeouts and halftime it closer to four,especially with television being the driving factor.
2. The rules are simple, just foreign to you.
3. So, what it was invented here.Baseball was invented in the US and its a religion in Japan and Latin america.
4. Stereotype, its more like three/four seconds of action.The option is to gain territory.
5. Won't comment on uniforms.Serves a purpose.
6. Rugby is an English creation and played in mostly commonwealth nations.Only place its played in the America's is Argentina.Rubgy is played on college campuses.
7. NFL Europe is a training ground for players.I've seen decent crowds in Germany.
8. You are right,but they know NBA players.The NBA pales in popularity to the NFL.
Some other reasons in the difference.One thing the US greatly differes the rest of the world is in college athletics.Football is a religion in certian regions of the US.Some high school and many college games can draw over 50/60,000 on a Saturday.
Its family friendly by and large.There will not be riot police with billy clubs and teargas hitting people. some "football" matches in Europe appear more battlezone than sports contest.
Unlike to majority of the world where there are two seasons.soccer and the non-soccer season.We have the NFL,NBA,hockey,NASCAR, basball.I won't even discuss college basketball and football which generate billions of dollars in revenue.
Also its rather easy though expensive to go to most football games.When I visited manchester and visited Old Trafford, i was shocked at the system that allots tickets.seems complicated and exclusionary to me.
Another thing I find puzzling is the lack of Black coaches in football on many levels.Seems that for the number of Black footballers there needs to be many more coaches.Though the NFL is starting to get it together.You may never see a brother at Manchester United, Chelsea or elsewhere.
The USA just has a different sports culture than the rest of the world. not better or worse,just different.
BTW the largest attended NFL football game occured outside the US.The Dallas Cowboys played in front of 110,00 in Mexico City.

Course you won't find england in the top 10 of footballing nations, because the england team is rubbish! BUT one thing i do know is that they are better than than the american national team! And no fifa table can tell me any different!
This is all in jest you understand.
1) - 4 DAMN HOURS THAT IS TOO LONG. How do the fans stay awake.
2) But the rules of football, are easy for all to see, even if they have never watched football before. GET THE BALL IN THE NET! 2 teams playing against each other to get the ball into the net being gaurded by one man! Now american football, what is it all about? How are the points scored, when they keep stopping and starting, where do the points come from. is it just a touch down that gains the points or what?

List five reasons why soccer is better than american football?
I'll list why American football is better than soccer.
1. More fan and family friendly.no worry about hooligans.Drunks are quickly dealt with in the states.
2. More of a team game.
3.More scoring
4. Parity.due to free-agency and other things the richest teams cannot be put into a position to win.Thus no manU's,chelsea,Real Madrid's and Barcelona winning dozens of titles.
5. United towns rather than divide them.

Cuba,Dominican Republic,Venezuela are hotbeds for baseball.
One thing you must remember untold millions of US children play soccer/football here.but many give it up.Surprisingly i wonder why most of the football powers suck when it comes to women in the sport.The US ,Norway and Germany run things there.I'm just puzzled why the English and African nations are so terrible at it.

I have no idea - but African womens football is superior to English women's football. Because there are African women professional leagues. Over here it is amateur for women.
But that's neither here nor there. who cares that american children give up football at an early age, that is no surprise since the country has quite a few national sports that are more popular.
And with reference to those south american countries, the reason why they love baseball is because they are CRAP AT FOOTBALL lol! Let them start producing internationally competitive teams, you will see things will start to change.

Two more of my respected friends have joined the trash-talking fray...well I expected you MBD but not wotsits18...what was that you said about us black women being held up in great guiding light in the spread the love thread? But yet you over here trying to put out my light so to speak, ha!, ha!, ha! But that's okay because all is fair in love and war, LOL! I decided to take you both own at the same time.
Worldwide, worldsmide....who cares? It just proves too many of you all love a boring azz game...there is no comparison when you think about it.
wotsits18 to piggy back on your equation....it should have read soccer + long azz socks+ men in shorts running up and down a field to score one point = serious boredom, ha!, ha!, ha!
And as I had to remind my other friends please stop trying to confuse the world into thinking your SOCCER is actually FOOTBALL, Okay? Yeah your players use their foot but they use their head too, and I don't see yall calling it headball, so cease with the play on words and refer to that version what it truly is SOCCER!.
But I will lay off of wotsits18 because at least he came clean and admitted that he knew the names of a few teams which proves that you all know more about our version they you are letting on.
Now to my pal MBD who I love like a sister...you said something about not understanding the game...how can you not understand our version? 22 men on the field trying to stop each other from advancing, the lines are clearly marked, we have fit, athletic, smart guys making beautiful plays and at least the score doesn't end up 1 to ZERO. Do you think I'm gonna pay my hard earned money or put in television time on a game in which the score could end up that low? Haaa,  I don't think so!
Add some points and maybe we can talk...better yet get rid of those dad-blasted socks and maybe we could talk.

I'll tell you another thing my inebriated primate friend, I'd bet I'd have an easier time creating a soccer team of NFL players than you'd have trying to create a football team with a bunch of soccer players. My guess is those soccer players would wet themselves as soon as they look across the line of scrimmage ( a football term you probably don't understand).
You think a 14 year old could handle the NFL? NO, but he can sure play "pro" soccer

And just becuase kids play the sport in America, for the rest of the world, it is a sport for MEN FIRSTLY! America is not the be all and end all! But with our version, the players have to strategize...check tendencies on what the opponent is going to do and adjust to make sure the opponent isn't able to to do that. You have to think plus keep your eye on not only who has the ball but keep an eye on the happenings on the entire field. We won't even discuss skill because you see unlike soccer, you have to be extremely talented to make an NFL team. Be able to take a hit as well as make one regardless of your position. Again, why would I want to see grown men running up and down a field without much physical contact...If I want to see a ball get hit, I'll just watch tennis, ha!, ha!, ha!

You have to think plus keep your eye on not only who has the ball but keep an eye on the happenings on the entire field - and so do footballers, except they don't half kill each other, once they have seen what is happening on the rest of the field!
We won't even discuss skill because you see unlike soccer, you have to be extremely talented to make an NFL team. - And you think you don't have to be skilled to play football at the highest level! oh PLEASE! The only skill you need to be an NFL player is the skill to take total leave of your senses. Afterall why would you want to put your self into an incredibly dry game, where you are on the field for hours, and getting your arse thrown in the air, wherever you walk!
Give me real football any day, the sublime and unpredictable game of skill, precision and tactics! The game which has captured the world! America can keep NFL, it hasn't taken off all over the world. BECAUSE IT IS A LOAD OF BRUTAL RUBBISH! LOL!

You want beauty, here's beauty a perfectly spiraling ball thrown 50 or 60 yards soaring high over the out-stretched hands of a defensive back, landing perfectly in the awaiting hands of a wide receiver who then secures it in those more than capable hands, fakes another oncoming defender, causing him to fall, turns around in a heisman trophy like stance, seemingly in slow motion and runs in for the winning score. That's beauty my brother...not that mess yall call football. Okay?
Now back to Miss Brighter Days...the skill levels of the two sports are totally different...not only does a football player, a real one that is, has to remember his team's play, they have to also figure out what the opponent is doing, make the adjustments, in addition to worrying about getting hit, which could do some serious career ending damage...none of that oh I broke a toe or got kicked in the shin sissy stuff. Football players have to think all of the time when they're on the field as well as on the side-lines because they are constantly strategizing with the coaches...so it's more than brutality...it's a mix of brutality and skill hence why only real men play it. Now where's the strategy in saying okay we gotta get by that one guy standing in front of that fishing net? Hello!...in the real game you gotta get by 11 men.
