NEW YORK —  Divorce has its price — and no celeb, it appears, knows that better than Michael Jordan. The basketball superstar's split last December from his wife of 17 years, Juanita, is No. 1 on Forbes.com's list of "The 10 Most Expensive Celebrity Divorces."

Juanita Jordan could possibly "get more than $150 million in a settlement, making the Jordan divorce the most expensive in entertainment history," Forbes said.

Neil Diamond, whose 1995 divorce from Marcia Murphey cost him an estimated $150 million, holds second place.

Steven Spielberg comes in third for paying his ex-wife Amy Irving an estimated $100 million, which was then half his fortune, when they divorced in 1989. The Oscar-winning director is now worth $3 billion.

Also making the list are estimated settlements between Harrison Ford and Melissa Mathison ($85 million); Kevin Costner and Cindy Silva ($80 million); Paul McCartney and Heather Mills, whose divorce could cost him more than $60 million; James Cameron and Linda Hamilton ($50 million); Michael and Diandra Douglas ($45 million and two homes); Lionel and Diane Richie ($20 million); and Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall ($15 to $25 million).

Forbes said they researched divorces of the last 25 years in compiling the list, which was posted Thursday on its Web site.

The results are also the subject of a one-hour special to air Saturday (6 p.m. EDT) on the E! Entertainment Network.

Nobody needs that amount of money. On reaching a settlement I'd expect the wife to give half towards funding childrens schooling in rural Gambia.

I'd bet OJ is MJ's hero right about now.

Shemsi - hmmm...I was going to say it depends, but the fact that the talk of how much it's going to cost is in the public eye maybe proof that a private settlement hasn't been reached which may further prove that it's the case that wife is after as much as she can get...worse if he's got another woman waiting in line...the ex wife probably sees it as the new woman reaping the fruit to seeds she 'helped' to sew so yeah, you're probably right.

Still, could be another case of woman happy to be living off the side but as soon as a dude packs up his career and spends more time at home it's time to get rid of his ass! - you think he came out of retiremnet for nothing....the world is full of men working late hours or sitting in pubs til closing time...anything but going home to the wife;)

On the OJ tip, just to think...the killer of his wife is still out there living it large!

Indeed...but one comment though.  Juanita Jordan didn't do anything but sit at home to amass Jordan's fortune.  Women like her should be grateful he stayed with her azz and now she want to be greedy as if she was the one on the basketball court sweating every day of the week in timeless sports highlights, setting records, and distinguishing as perhaps as the greatest athlete of all time.  If Juanita went missing before the divorce was final, I'd understand.

shemsi - guess we all know it doesn't work like that. Think the next time I get married it will be a ceremony in some remote African village where there are no rights with regards to western law;)

Still - in MJ's case, it would be interesting to know who filed for divorce.
