Good race from Lewi. The boy dun good.

_____
Hamilton 'can be world champion'

Hamilton is being tipped for great things after an impressive debut Lewis Hamilton has marked himself out as a future world champion following his impressive Formula One debut, says his McLaren team boss Ron Dennis.
The Englishman, 22, finished third at the Australian Grand Prix after a long battle with team-mate Fernando Alonso.

Asked if Hamilton could win the world title in the future, Dennis told BBC Radio Five Live: "Anyone who watched the race must see the ingredients.
"Even a non-enthusiast would see he's going to go from strength to strength."
Hamilton had "done a phenomenal job through the weekend", Dennis said.

The guy has a ridiculous amount of talent.  They tried to manhandle him going up to the first corner but he just went on the outside and cut them all up including Alonso! And Alonso is a bad boy driver... He made the whole thing look flawless and he was consistently doing better times than his team mate Alonso.  I had hopes for him but was still in shock at how well he handled himself.  I think he would have come second but team orders switched up strategies as they couldn't really have the twice world champion being taken by a rookie.

I can't wait for the next race. There's a lot of pressure on him now to live up to this race but he's got an 'old' head on his shoulders.

Anyway congrats to Lewis he was great in qualifying and really good in the race,I reckon he's is gonna throw down this season.

I hope the haters stay away from him.

It must be truly galling for white folks that no matter what sport we put our minds to,we can excel in a short space of time.:)

His dad's Grenadian and his mum's English.  Yeah he's mixed but I don't care because he's amazing.  Focused and on point with his driving along with all the other stuff he has to deal with...he's only 22!

Ermm why is he a git Kunjufu?

If there is any random wrath to be directed maybe you should save it for his father?

Id expect better from you!!

Yes he is mixed raced, but when the cops are beating his ass they are not just beating the black bits and avoiding the white, they are beating him because he looks Black.

Anyway he is a talented driver, articulate and looks like he's got his head on his shoulders,I wish him well,no matter how many blondes he inevitably hooks up with.

Well this will always be a contentious issue amongst us.

And it will probably turn out that Lewis Hamilton will not be "culturally"black even if he is visually.Especially as he is under the influence of his daddy and also in the arena of Formula One which 99% white.

Quite frankly as long as he manages to not talk sh*t about Black people throughout his career,he'll be fine with me.

I just wanna watch him race and do well.

I'm sure when that time comes, if it hasn't already, he'll be taking the Tiger Woods approach to things. Besides, have you seen all them fit greys that flank the the F1 grid:)

He was blatantly hinting that he wants to have a win at the conference after the race but I think that team politics will take over.  They can't really have a rookie beating the twice world champion in the first season because he'll completely smash Alonso's record. The way that he handles himself in and after the race is unbelievable-he just oozes control and confidence.  Alonso looks pretty shook though and from his body language its indicating that Lewis grates his nerves.  I'm really interested as to how its going to play out over the season because Ron Dennis has more of a connection with Lewis than Fernando and he was clearly getting emotional at the race.  Will he stick with Fernando or go for Lewis which will put him in the record books for youngest and only black british world champion?  If he sticks with Lewis there would be a lot more prestige because there won't be another black driver like him for a long time because of the expense involved in getting to that position.  Roll on Bahrain!

Massa pips Hamilton to claim pole Felipe Massa will start the Bahrain Grand Prix in pole position after edging a head to head battle with English rookie Lewis Hamilton.
Massa claimed pole for Ferrari by just under three-tenths of a second from 22-year-old Hamilton after posting a time of one minute 32.935 seconds.
Kimi Raikkonen was third while Hamilton's McLaren team-mate, world champion Fernando Alonso, was fourth.

It had to happen at some point-deciding if Lewis or Fernando should win...team orders blah blah blah...  Fernando clearly being undermined must have thrown down his 'I've won 2 world championship' card and said I can't let him keep on upstaging me-he's a rookie for flips sake!  Lewis could have won on Sunday but it was not to be as the traffic let Fernando through and wouldn't clear a pathway for him (and also a little help from McLaren as well).  Better luck next time Lewis!  As they say karma's a b**ch!

On the news today:

Formula One racing’s governing body, the FIA, is to investigate McLaren’s one-two victory in Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix, following suggestions that team orders played a part in Fernando Alonso’s win over Lewis Hamilton.

“The FIA has launched an investigation into incidents involving the McLaren Mercedes team at the 2007 Monaco Grand Prix in light of a possible breach of the International Sporting Code, read an official statement released Monday.

McLaren boss Ron Dennis admitted that the unusual strategic requirements at Monaco meant the team had to more or less decide in advance which driver would win the race, and Alonso and Hamilton were told to hold station in the latter stages of the Grand Prix.

However, Dennis insisted the decision was purely tactical and that the team had not manipulated the result of the race in any way. The FIA will now review the relevant evidence and will make a further announcement in due course.

Shame on ITV, not even showing the after race interview...and for what? Coronation street?!

____

Canadian Grand Prix

Hamilton was the calm eye at the centre of a stormy race Lewis Hamilton drove a copybook race to win the Canadian Grand Prix and take his first Formula One victory in only the sixth race of his career.

The Englishman led a dramatic race throughout, driving with composure as the field fell apart around him.
He survived four interventions by the safety car to head Nick Heidfeld of BMW Sauber and Williams's Alexander Wurz.
World champion Fernando Alonso finished seventh and Robert Kubica survived a huge crash after rolling his BMW.

The Pole's 180mph crash at the hairpin prompted the second, and most lengthy of the safety car periods, but by that time all semblance of a challenge to Hamilton had evaporated.

Yeah, hence the words young, black and articulate. Yet to hear the articulate word thrown around when talking about other drivers. Pretty easy to workout the thinking behind that nonsense.
