Alan Curbishley for some reason is the favourite.
Personally I'd pick Glenn Hoddle over him.
Looking at the league table, those Icelandic owners should probably be thinking... English managers don't do too well here do they.

Essien's fluke of a goal perhaps left a bitter taste in some mouths.

Nah Essien's goal was quality. You can't legislate for that.
As for Pardew, well I know I speak on behalf of Arsenal fans everywhere when I say this has been a wonderful 24 hours. First we send our Under 21 team to the Bridge and come away with a credible draw. Then today our hated nemesis Mr Alan "Just Call me Adolf Hitler" Pardew gets the bullet at West Ham.
I hate Pardew. His comments have been offensive and bordered on the xenophobic, even racist. Im sure Wenger raised a clenched fist when the fascist one was kicked out of Upton Park.
My only regret is that they didn't give him long enough to finish the job and take West Ham back down where they belong- in the gutter of English football with Millwall's of the world in the football lower leagues.

Wayne Rooney's reputation goes before him. It is this rather than his ball skills that makes the first impact on other players and could be key to him wrong-footing defenders.
Psychologists at the University of Wales, in Bangor, found that merely being shown a photograph of the Manchester United and England striker is enough to leave people with impaired control over their feet.
Professor Steven Tipper, from the university's Centre for Clinical and Cognitive Neuroscience, said: "It was a very surprising result, as we were expecting that images of famous athletes would enhance people's own skills. It turned out to be an inhibitory process. When people look at others they automatically compare themselves and realise they are not that good — it creates a negative effect.
"It could certainly explain why some professional players choke up and don't play nearly as well as they could if they think they are not as good as the person in front of them."
Prof Tipper believes the effect could explain how strikers can find it impossible to score against certain goalkeepers.
The reputation built up by players such as Michael Owen, Theo Walcott and David Beckham as youngsters helped them blow away the opposition in their first fully-fledged matches. "The reputation of their skills has been built up to the point that it leaves those they are facing in some doubt."
The study, which is published in The Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology, examined the hand and foot reaction times of 40 students when they were asked to identify famous sports people.
When shown a photo of Rooney, their finger response was faster than their foot response. Shown a picture of Tim Henman, however, their foot response was quicker. The researchers hope to study elite sportsmen to find whether the effect is the same.
Ken Bray, a soccer science expert at Bath University, agreed that the psychological state of a player could have a major impact on their performance.
"For a good performance you need psychological arousal and even elite athletes need to reach that peak level of arousal to execute that skill perfectly.
"If you take a player who is facing Rooney and knows his reputation, it is very damaging psychologically if you can't reach the right level of arousal. The England goalkeeper David James uses a huge amount of mental preparation before a game and if he is brought on without this he can have a terrible game.
"There have been plenty of examples of young players like Theo Walcott who came through the ranks as young players with no preconceptions and his performances were tremendous."
I swear I haven't stopped laughing since I read that highlighted sentance!

What the heck happened to ManU?
West Ham were all over them. Then again without those two Argentinian boat anchors on the pitch, they seemed lively. Amazing how that team performs when Reo-Coker is allowed to be THE MAN.
I am surprised that Man United did not go afer him instead of Carrick. He is more ike Keane that Carrick. He bosses the pitch, not scared to foul has a better touch and is a natural leader. Carrick loss the ball 3 times yesterday while dribbling, two on the same possession while I was watching.
He disappeared in major stretches of the game.
Looks like the Hammers are for real with their new boss and not easy push overs.....

@ Watcher
One Word : Reo-Coker
He has IT, which is an intangible, which makes other players believe when all is lost,
That IT, that says in the eyes GET ON MY BACK, I WILL CARRY US TO VICTORY
That IT, that says I WILL NOT BE DENIED...
and no Man U player has that. Heck, I love Henry but he does not even have that IT. Reo-Coker and Man U with Carrick on the bench spells Man U taking the league and the CL.
Hargraeves is decent but he does not have the leadership quality that Man U requires in the engine room. I can't see why SAF does not see this and I as an AMerican sees this plain as day.
This kid has that mean streak to knock down players not caring or respecting their rep, that strength to take on players, the will power to stand up for his fellow players and is alread y a captain.
I know that Man U will not go after him, but think if they did, this would be an AA Roy Keane replacement that can score and has speed......

| safetyblitz....I too have watched Reo-Coker in many games and have to say I agree with you. But for him, he needs to leave West Ham ASAP.

Reo Coker has determination
That was ONE game you joker! The rest of the season he's been crap! His own fans are booing him and demanding he gets sold.
Anyway... It's nice at the top.

Watcher and the Man U massive. Wasn't able to follow footie or cricket last year too busy. But my boys doing the business. Just need to strengthen the squad in midfeild desperately and get the rest of our squad ready for the crucial part of the season in terms of games and match readiness. If we could get say 3 players we will have that Stamford Hill rabble.
Show them you cannot buy the premiership and as I have said from day one we have the best manager in the business, with Wenger and a few others behind Fergie.
All them b**ches like Ballack, and Essien who dissed us in the beggining of the season god willing I want to see their faces at the end of this season.

I know Real is not in the EPL, but after all Ronaldinho and Henry did last year. How did cassano get footballer of the year?
I have been watching him get SCHOOLED in Spain. He is being taken to school by everyone. one dude nutmegged him as if he was a cone. We complain about Rio and Sol, but compared to him they look like Supermen.
Deportivo Coruna who are almost relegated are schooling him
On the EPL I was watching Arsenal TV and they showed the CL final game and I payed attention to Eboue and E to battle during the match. That has to be one of the classics in Africa for years to come. They chipped each other they nutmegged each other. I missed this individual battle in the match.

Yeah. I thought that you knew that? LOL He cannot mark to save his life. Dude if Real came to get sh*ttu from Watford and Taylor from Portsmouth, they would be #1 in their league. Cassanno is garbage, Raul is past his prime, Reyes looks like he looked over here, all fluff and no production. How bad do they look?
Emerson and Beckham are the two hardest working players on their squad the moment.......

Come on, is nobody excited about next week?
With Man U in flying form at the top and firing on all cylinders and Arsenal getting back into their groove with a hungry looking Henry surely we're set for game of the season there at Emirates?
With Chelsea over their little blip and Mourinho grinning once more will a shaky looking Liverpool live up to the established hate/hate rivalry between those two teams?
So many things in the premiership rest on next week... it's gonna be heavy

Yeah but the thing is we lost Gilberto and we have no one that can play that ball winning spot consistantly. G has grea positioning, but the rest of our guys depend on their speed. Diaby is not well enough, Song has not grown into first team status, leaving who in that spot? Unless we go 4-3-3 next week LOL It will be interesting

| That straight red card shown to Gilberto was so wrong, no way could that stand after the FA takes a look at it. You gotta love Robbie Savage, he always gets to you.

I think both Arsenal and Man U are attacking well at the moment and in form but Arsenal just look more leaky and getattable to me. I think a win for Man U is more likely.
Chelski should be Liverpool but lucky b**tard Crouch may proove me wrong (please)

I hope not because we will need him to stop Scholes. I wish Gallas was back as Senderos is straight garbage in the EPL. His strength is good in Europe but vs the speed in the EPL he is a liability. Now we are coming up against speed in the middle?
Hoyte against Giggs is a mismatch but if Eboue was back we would have the edge.
Ronaldo against Clichy is balanced as well as Clichy will not attack with Ronaldo left alone against Senderos. Speed for speed they should be balanced.
This is really a match that I would love for Heinze to play as that would give us the speed advantage on the right. Evra would negate that, but now we have an aging Henry vs Neville, Cesc vs Carrick (LOL) and possibly RVP vs Ferdinand as Vidic would be the liability vs quickness on this end. Man there are going to be a lot of 1v1 battles of the upper eschelon this Saturday. THen again you are coming to our house and Arsene may be doing the cooking
