Bored..I'm literally wetting myself laughing....here was I thinking Benitz was gonna come out with his strongest side to get what should have been an easy win..... but nooo this clown picks that idiot goal keeper Dudek and waters down his team... and then looked totally surprised when got the arsing his decision it quite rightly derserved.....

And to make matter worse..he effectvely crocked his three BEST midfielders, there was a time when Anfield and liverpool struck fear in the heart..now it triggers howls of laughter at coco the clown and his merry men at the circus!!!

To be honest he ought to be sacked, he doesn't have a frikkin clue....don't be surprised if Gerrard...legs it out of Liverpool if things don't improve!!

Safety did you see the game? i was almost speechless.. I had to keep checking that it was Liverpool and that we were playing our second eleven... However i disagree safety..what Liverpool needs is pace in the team... We rang around them, pass, them through them with ease... that win was a comprehensive as you will get!!!

K but they are not true finishers against tough teams.  They score 20 goals against mediocre talent but disappear when you need them in a big game.  Liverpool need a quality striker not a large collection sidekicks upfront.

Well from my take anyway.

I did not get a chance to watch the game.  I am catching up and just now on Charlton.

The manager is a nonse, and this is the man who earlier in the season made team rotation look like it was going out of fashion. He should have done the right thing and told dudek a promise is a comfort to a fool. Fool.

I must admit, I was fully prepared for our young guns to get a little workout on the end of 2 - 1 loss, or something like that.  After Saturday's result I could have handled a loss like that.  But a 6-3 win.......at Liverpool!

Even in the Carling cup (which the average Premiership manager hardly generates a pulse for) that is a result that spells bad news.  Damn, even a non-league side would have been disappointed if they couldn't keep the goals down to 4 at the most.  Mind you most non-league sides have a better goal keeper than the one Liverpool had.

Respect

Why?

Did Arsenal come with their strongest side?

Would you have blamed Arsene Wenger for not fielding out a strong team had you lost yesterday!! I somehow dont think so...

There was nothing wrong with Benitez's team selection - the only complaint i'd say is playing Gerrard in a useless game like yesterdays.

Lets not forget this is the Carling Cup - Im glad we got knocked out tbh -it gives us that extra week to prepare for the otther big games

Not too surprised by the scoreline either - if our 1st team cant defend(as we saw on Saturday) - i dont expect the youngsters too either...

PS: Kunjufu - how do i change my name?

I dont think there has been enough analysis of Gerrards contribution to Wednesday.  His finish was good, but what else did he do?  He hardly threw himself into challenges, or showed any desire.  Where was the chasing back?  The pressuring?  We had so much time on the ball.

Much has been written about the Liverpool defence, agreed they are not up to it.  But Gerrard seems to have a licence to play below par and somehow deflect all criticisms as long as he can toe punt atleast one effort into the goal.

Its not what you expect from a captain.  Especially when so many players who were of little or no experience were looking to him for leadership.

Some will say that its only the League Cup, but he always makes out he cares so much for his club.  Didn't look like it to me on Wednesday.  Nobody should be proud after Wednesday, but if you're the captain, and you played like that, then it must be worse.  The way he pulled up at the end, more in self pity than any real shame or humilation spoke volumes.

A Job very well done today... 0-3  - slightly eases our wounds

Everyone was superb -  bar Gerrard - AGAIN

Aurelio was superb going forward - but still suspect defensively

Next weekend is probably the biggest game of our season

Its our first home game since the Arsenal shambles - and its against the Champions Chelsea

Beating Chelsea will cut to gap between us and them to 5 POINTS - and its only January..... it will bring us within a touching distance of 2nd SPOT..

dont care how we do it - dont care how ugly it gets-  dont care how many legs we break in the process - WE HAVE TO get 3 POINTS...............!!

Yup we do. We've beaten Chelsea in the FA, CL and C.Shield in last few seasons, but not the league, so its a big test.

We're a better footballing side imo, but up unitl now not better at finishing in big games, so messers Crouch etc need to up their games.

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Italian under-21 goalkeeper Daniele Padelli from Sampdoria, subject to international clearance.

Padelli, who was on loan with second division Crotone in the first half of the season, has signed until the end of the season when the Reds will have the option to agree a permanent deal.

"He's a good young goalkeeper who has been selected for his national side," said manager Rafael Benitez.

"Padelli will give us a good option for the future. The fact he is once again with the under-21s for his national side tells you that we are signing a very good player.

"Our scouting department are working really hard to bring good young players to the club and I'm delighted we have been able to sign Padelli

Dude you have a chance, they have no defenders and Hilario(us) in net LOL  The score next week could easily be 5-4 Liverpool.

The wait will soon be over, the glory days are now imminent.

PARRY: DUBAI DEAL IMMINENT
Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry has revealed the takeover of the Barclays Premiership club by investors from Dubai is almost complete and that a concrete announcement will be made 'relatively soon'.

Dubai International Capital (DIC), the investment arm of the Dubai government, tabled a bid in December and are currently completing legal formalities and the process of due diligence.

Parry told Sportsweek on BBC Radio Five Live: “A huge amount of work has been going on from both parts. I imagine we’ll have something concrete to say relatively soon on that.

“They are finalising all the legal work. They have been examining the books and satisfying themselves that everything is fine on that score.

“There is lot of legal work to do and investigations going on into the funding of the new stadium, which is a very important project for us.

“It is a case of finalising the due diligence and pulling everything together, which we hope will be completed relatively quickly.

“It is looking positive and yes, I am confident (it will go through).

Parry confirmed the takeover would bring in the additional funds that manager Rafael Benitez wants to strengthen his squad for a tilt at the Barclays Premiership title.

@K

Upfront they do not have the speed to deal with Barca's twin hacks.  Maybe a penalty but that is about it.  Marquez hacks people down before they can get started and his partner Sasquatch hacks them down before they rceive the ball.  LOL

And if they cannot deal with an Henry-less Arsenal how in the heck are they going to deal with the Barca frontline that is getting Eto'o back soon?

I think it is time for a massive clear out starting with Dudek who has no confidence at all now,   the back line needs to be cleared out.  Renia does not trust any of them anymore and makes dumber and dumber mistakes watching out for them.  He looks like Hislop or Givens now.  Just reacting peripheral suspected shadows brought on by a defense that disappears at times LOL

Hyypia is stable but slow, Riise is starting downward, the rest cannot read aything defensively and get off on their skills.

Who is on the trading block in six months?

My Guess

DUDEK
Paletta
Aurelio
Wanock
Zenden
Pennant
Crouch
Bellamy
Riise or Finnan

John Terry as well........

THey still have not played first team ball in a while and all Terry needs is one hard fall and he is hobbling to the sideline holding his back.....

Plus Cech may have flashbacks and pull up

Nah

Finnan has been the most consistent full back in the league for the last two seasons bar the start of this one. Dan Agger will develop into one of the best defenders around. Hypia is getting old but is still a god. Carragher is arguebly the best central defender in the Premiership if not the world and has 5 more good years at the top level in him.

None of this will matter anymore as very soon you will see the likes of Cannavaro,Thuram, Neste and Cafu all begging to get in the squad.
