11 goals in 16 appearances for England and people look to (past it shearer wannabe) Owen or (world on his shoulders don't care aboout scoring) Rooney or even for that matter (championship player on a hot streak ) Andy Johnson

Dead and buried my arse!!

Everton away, bolton away, chelsea away and Man U away - our toughest fixtures out of the way by October

We'll beat the above comfortably at Anfield !!

We have a very good team - we just need to get some kind of run going - the minute we start - we wont stop!! our defeat against Everton a month ago was our first since March!!!!

Rotation isnt our problem!!

We need a striker of Owen/Fowler mould(sp) who would get us goals week in week out no matter how good/bad we play!!!

We're creating tons of chances - just no one to kill teams off!!

Only Kuyt comes close - Why Rafa  got rid of Cisse and Pongolle(on loan) for Bellamy is beyond me? Cisse got us 19 goals or something starting on the bench most times!!

We'll be up there - we probably not win the title(although not giving up yet) - but 2nd spot is def achievable!!

Keep writing us off - thats all im gonna say!! we love it!! we will only shove it down people's throats come May!!

PS: im gonna love reading this thread again come end of seasonsmoking-devil

People said that this time last year - and we finished with our highest ever premiership total - 9 points behind champions - and 1 point behind 2nd place!!

2nd place or even 3rd plus a CL/FA Cup trophy would make a good season!! You'd only  be kidding yourself if you think we're not capable of doing so!!

Finishing in the top 3 on a consistent basis is what we need before we finally settle on a squad good enough to win the title!!!

The rotation policy is nutin knew really. Rafas being doing it since the first season he arrived. No-one said didly when we brought home the CL and FA Cups.

Im not gonna get excited about todays game. Our away form has been dreadful of late.

lost 4, drawn 1 won 0.

WRONG

If we had goalscorers - we'd be top of the table right now!!

We're playing really well - far too open and playing some good football - doing everything right apart from finding the back of the net

Apart from game Vs Man U, we've been really unlucky to end up on the losing side - we've outplayed all those teams(the champions included) - created enough chances to kill them off -- but no one like Owen/Fowler/Ruud Van Nistlerooy/Henry/Crespo/Drogba to make it a comfortable scoreline

Crouch, Bellamy whatever the statistics may be -  arent the solution to our problems

They should be our Plan B or C's. not A...

Thats our main problem - not rotation, or Gerrard

I agree with you about the lack of a prolific scorer in you side, however it is noticeable that Gerrard 9who was in my fantasy team last season) is way below par...and what I thought was the exciting transfers of Bellamy and Pennant just hasn't worked as it should have..thats where you are falling down....

Yeh i feel the same way. Not getting over-excited about todays game. Although we were a joy to watch and improved our link up play from our poor form. So it is fair to take positives and encouragement from this game. However next game is at highbury! Then again the bitters proved today that arsenal are yet to establish a fortress at the emirates.
By the way rafa please dont use that 'we created chances' excuse, it does my head in whenever Benitez says that. You need to see through the rose tinted specs and admitt that in those away games we simply werent good enough. The man utd game was so poor that even our manager couldnt use that classical excuse! We do have a conversion rate problem, and Bellamy isnt clinical enough in front of goal. However, i do believe kuyt can be our next fowler/owen (to some extent). Crouch is coming good too. I am nearly convinced.

Yeah im overall very happy with the way we're playing. We are dominating games and the possession is good.............not just hoffing the ball.

Today im hoping is the start for Kuyt. Im sold on the boy. You do not put goals away like he did today unless you are striker worth summon. He is key to us being the difference. Crouch is already firing, so we now only need to stop conceeding goals away from home and get Gerrard to top form.

Why?

Its not an excuse - its fact!!

Its a good sign that we're having a go at teams away from home and playing some good football

If that gives you a headache then fine........

You need to see through the rose tinted specs and admitt that in those away games we simply werent good enough.

rose tinted specs?

I say it how i see it tobi

If we're not good enough - i will say so -

I already said we werent good enough Vs Man U!!!

The away games so far - we've done everything right apart from scoring

We didnt take our chances - we got punished - its as simple as that!!!

The man utd game was so poor that even our manager couldnt use that classical excuse!

confused3 yea i know that - already mentioned it in my other post

We do have a conversion rate problem, and Bellamy isnt clinical enough in front of goal. However, i do believe kuyt can be our next fowler/owen (to some extent).

confused3 funnily enough thats exactly what i said in my other post - read my post about Cisse and Pongolle though- i think it was a mistake letting them go

Crouch is coming good too. I am nearly convinced

Crouch is awesome - he adds something extra to the team!!
We still need a world class player in that position though!! Someone with pace - a big game player - a 20+ goal player - whether Kuyt can be the one it remains to be seen...!! Hes got an amazing record back in Holland though!!

Ok, why is it that after almost every game where we dropped points, that classical 'we created chances' excuse came up? This problem of 'creating chances' and not scoring has been going on since the begining of last season! It is implying that it was down to bad luck. At first i believed it. But this problem has been going on and re-occuring far too long and too much for it to be just down to bad luck. It's deeper than that.

The way i see it we dont put enough attacking pressure on teams, we just hoof the ball and hope for something to happen. Therefore we create sudden, random chances. But this isnt the best way to score. The way to find the net is to constantly attack and pressurise opponents till the defence eventually breaks down and the chances of scoring increases dramatically. Ask Man Utd or Barca!

Oh and by the way, smicer had better make an appearance tonight. We have to give him that standing ovation that he fully deserves for his heroics but never recieved!

3-0

Gerrard back to best.

Garcia-if only he was like this week in week out. Trouble with him is that when he's bad hes Bad and a liability, then as if by magic turns into a Dan.

Liverpool have qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League after two goals from Luis Garcia and a first of the season for Steven Gerrard gave them a 3-0 victory over Bordeaux at Anfield while Galatasaray were beaten by PSV Eindhoven in Holland.

The Reds only needed to better the result of the Turkish Champions to guarantee their place in the knockout stages and Garcia and Gerrard's goals helped them achieve that and stay top of Group C with games against PSV at Anfield and Galatasaray in Turkey to come.

Bordeaux now have only UEFA Cup qualification to play for and their miserable night was compounded when their midfielder Fernando Menegazzo was sent off for a headbutt on John Arne Riise midway through the second half.

The Reds opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Garcia crashed in a volley from Gerrard's right wing cross. And they fought off a brief Bordeaux fightback at the start of second half to make it a hat-trick of consecutive wins in the Champions League.

There could have been no more popular scorer of their second goal after 71st minutes when Steven Gerrard raced onto Zenden's pass and finished coolly to bag his first goal of the season. A packed Anfield rose as one to acclaim their dynamic Captain.

Luis Garcia put the finishing touches on a successful night for Rafa's men when he sped through to score his second of the night and make it 3-0 after 76 minutes.

Momo Sissoko and Sami Hyypia both came close to making the scoreline even more emphatic in the closing minutes, but there was no one leaving Anfield disappointed after Liverpool once again gave their fans the opportunity to dream.

There is a God after all, Chelsea and Arsenal both suffer defeats, whilst we close the gap.

Kuyt and Crouch are beginning to gel and Rafa by the looks of it, has found what he was searching for im hoping.

Yeah role on Aresenl. You know the Gooners fear us.  I predict a 3-0 demolitian.

Yeh! Looking forward to playing the has-beens! No doubt they do fear us.

Yes! Yes! Kuyt is a breath of fresh air. Physical strength as well as intelligent play up front. The kinda striker we've been missing for two seasons!

In a way this weeks results with our rivals had its ups and downs. Good to see chelsea and arsenal drop points but i would rather see chelsea steal the trophy again than the mancs!

The referee is a joker. How was that not a goal in the first. Changed the entire game as we would have been 1-0 up and no doubt would have won the game 6-0.
