| Saw the replay of our disallowed goal again on match of the day. Bellamy was onside when he scored. We were robbed!

Tee they came and went like raiders in the night. Bottom line though is without a world class frontman Liverpool will always come 2nd in the premiership. To win the title you need a top striker. Try thinking of one team who've done this without one.

The day football died.
There was only one team trying to play football and win the game, and it wasnt United.
And people gave Everton stick. I take it all back.
By far the worst team to have come to Anfield this year.
With someone like Eto, we would have lead 3-0 going into half time.
This is why we're so far behind these shower of sh*te.
And what does Rafa do? Go sign Voronin - striker with a really sh*t scoring record. Just Brilliant
PS: Well done Refs and the FA on handing another victory/title to Man Utd. They did it with Chelsea for the last two seasons. Now just watch the FA engineer a Chelsea Vs Man Utd FA Cup final! Just brilliant.

I thought the grapes might be a little sour over here... Tobitrice only last week the scandal was Liverpool being accused of cheating to win games. We watched Gerrard tell the referee before an incident had even happened to award a penalty which he duly did. Not for the first time this season either.
Now you and LM before you accuse Utd amusingly of having refs engineer results for us. Tell me if Scholes red card was part of some elabourate ruse in this grand conspiracy? It was still 0-0 when Scholes was sent off and if I wanted to fix a team to win, sending off their main midfielder wouldnt be part of my scheme personally.
Sure Utd played poorly, no denying that but after a season of playing better than everybody else (check scoring and conceeded stats) a few off games aren't that important. Considering how many Liverpool have had away from Anfield I'd keep quiet if I were you.

Watcher, not even the money Man U pay the refs off with could have prevented Scholes walking with that punch in the face attempt . Also it was in the 86 min or so, so hardly had an impact.
If you win the league this year, it will be because, Chelsea, Aresenal and Liverpool played badly and not that you team is any good, which they arent.

WHEN we win the league it will be because we were the best. Arsenal have been figured out by every premiership team who watches champions league now and their one dimensional style can't break down defensive teams. Their own fault. Chelsea despite having the most ridicolously expensive and largest squad in the premiership have the audacity to moan about injuries lol I point out that their biggest signings Ballack and Shevchenko have played all season and it's nobody elses fault they're crap. Liverpool have no strikers and no consistancy and are simply not a championship winning squad. They are good for a few cup runs every now and then but nobody else is ever convinced by them.
Fact is United scored way more goals than everybody, broke downs teams better than anybody and conceeded way less too. You watched Utd's last two poor games and seem to have forgotten the rest of the season. We have dominated imperiously and nearly every week on Motd it was talk of how excellent Utd were and such lovely flowing football etc blah blah blah... all of a sudden sour grapes scousers say we're LUCKY??
bollocks
That's saying Arsenal were lucky to go a season unbeaten or chelsea were lucky to win two titles or liverpool were lucky in milan.... pure bollocks. Luck doesn't put a team on top after 38 games. Superiority does.
80s Liverpool knew that. 90s and 00s Liverpool have yet to learn it seems

Time will tell ,Watcher. When Liverpool get the srtriker they are looking you will see how Man U fade into insignificance.
You have one decent player, Ronaldo and thats it. Giggs and Scholes too but they are up for their pensions soon. One's already retired from International duty to get ready for a life of cocco and biscuits.
Evra also is decent and thats your lot. Man U have got lucky this season because the rest of us played badly. That can only last so long.
Fergerson also has lost his ability to bring through younger players and also develop players like he used to. The clock is ticking for you.

That's the problem. We need a top quality striker and we were supposed to get that striker last summer. The problem is rafa doesnt seem to like top quality players with big egos. All he wants are a bunch of 'hard workers' that will run all over the pitch. We still need a quality striker and who does he decide to bring in? VORONIN! WHY??!! I must say i dont trust rafa anymore! He makes too many strange decisions that dont even pay off!

Not sure Tee you have to look at availability. The best striker available recently was Van Nistleroy and that was never going to happen. Also when top strikers are available Liverpool arent first in the pecking order, however our ranking would have improved with the new owners. I think Rafa has been looking to create a player until the availabilty does come his way.

Disallowing a perfectly good goal would be though.
Or to award a nothing free kick in a dangerous area in stoppage time.
Or letting Scholes get away with almost every fouls unnoticed - he should have been booked way early in the game.
Ref had to send him off. This was no ordinary foul. No money in the world would have stopped the ref from sending him off as much as the bought refs would have loved to do otherwise.
Liverpool have no strikers and no consistancy and are simply not a championship winning squad. They are good for a few cup runs every now and then but nobody else is ever convinced by them.

If we had a clinical striker like the good old days of Owen, Rush , Fowler - we would be ahead of everyone - look at the amount of chances we create per game - its scary - someone like Eto on the receving end - and we'd easily score 5-6 per game - thats the difference
And we play at the same level against the top sides as well - Chelsea home and away, Arsenal away, United away(although we werent at our best 2nd half).. we missed sitters before we ended up being on the losing side.
United excel against the Wigans and Boltons of the league - score 3-4 goals - and people(fans and pundits alike) believe the hype.
But when it comes to the big games, you're horribly exposed - yesterdays game was one example - games against Arsenal x 2 - even Lille played you off the park.
and nearly every week on Motd it was talk of how excellent Utd were and such lovely flowing football etc blah blah blah... all of a sudden sour grapes scousers say we're LUCKY??
heheh flowing football - see comment above
You're lucky. Ronaldo and the refs dragged you to the top of the league. Its so obvious - its Chelsea all over again.
We havent had a worthy winner of the championship ever since the Unbeaten team of Arsenal.

We need a top class striker badly...how many chances does a team need to score 1.
Better than Barca over 2 legs...lets go on and win it.

Is there a better defender in Europe than JC? Ok Alex from PSV looked warm the other night, but cant be many others up there with him right now. Best in the premiership without exception.

Yup i was happy, but not overly impressed. I want a Drogba in the team, someone to LEAD the frontline every game. Will also then make the rest of the strikers become better players as the expectation shifts.

Liverpool's new owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett have suspended work on their proposed new stadium and ordered a review of the plans.
BBC Sport understands the pair want to examine ways of increasing the 60,000 capacity of the arena in Stanley Park.
Liverpool have targeted 2009 as an opening date for the stadium, but if major changes are made, there would need to be a new planning application.
This could result in a delay, although the original date may yet be met.
Liverpool have yet to confirm the decision to suspend preparatory work on the £215m project, but have revealed a review will be undertaken.
A Liverpool spokesman said: "There is a total commitment to a new stadium but the new owners are conducting a thorough review of the current proposals, to see if there is any way they can be improved."

606: DEBATE
Our owners have impressed me so far. They want growth and stability rather than a quick buck
BC
BBC Sport believes the club's hierarchy regards the move to commission a review of the plans as a sign of the huge ambition of Gillett and Hicks rather than any move to back away from the original scheme.
Gillett and Hicks are fully behind the project as part of their takeover plan, and it is understood the review will take ''weeks rather than months'', allowing work on any alterations to the original design to get under way as soon as possible.
An increased capacity will be one of the plans under discussion during the review, but this is not a guarantee that this will happen.
Work on the new ground needs to start in the spring because public money has been allocated to the regeneration element of the plan, and it has to be spent by the end of 2008.
Gillett said in early February: "The shovel needs to be in the ground in the next 60 days.
"We are fully supportive of the Stanley Park development and of building a facility that we hope will be the greatest facility in this sport.
"We do work hard on design and development and making sure the quality of the fan experience is unparalleled.
"We want to make sure the newest technology is incorporated in it. It is about the comfort of fans."
And Hicks added: "We have our own people lined up to see if, within the confines of the plans, there are any other ideas that would be good for the fans."
This is good news. I always thought that 60,000 seats was not exactly enough. 70K-80K would do just fine. Well its too early to get excited as i think that the problem that may stop this from happening would be increased traffic problems on matchdays.

Me too, thinking we need more than 60k that is. Especially since Man U holds 70k and emerates is 60k. We need a 80,000 er.
Ill be surprised if they up it though, as one wonders why the plans werent larger originally. Surely if 70k+ were possible it would have beeen planned, seeing as the demand could easily cope. Hope im wrong....
Anyway shows the owners have a quest to be the biggest and the best, at least.

BOSS: MASCHERANO WILL BE BIG PLAYER FOR US
Paul Eaton 25 March 2007
Rafael Benitez today praised midfielder Javier Mascherano for an impressive start to his Anfield career - and tipped him to play a big part in the Reds' future.
The Argentinian international was one of the club's better performers during last weekend's draw at Villa Park and Benitez believes he will keep getting better as he continues his adaptation to English football.
"If you analyse his two performances so far he has played very well," said the Liverpool manager. "He is good at both keeping possession, tackling and fighting to get the ball back. We're sure he's going to be a really good player for us.
"He is someone who not only passes well, but he always arrives to the play to support team-mates and give a good option to their passing.
"We don't have a lot of these type of player. Only Xabi can play in this holding role. Momo and Gerrard like to go forward a lot more, so it's important for the balance to have someone like Mascherano."
Whats the verdict on him? Good buy or not?

Has this thread been blessed yet? - Just in case it hasn't, here goes!
When you walk through the storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of the lark
Walk on, through the wind
Walk on, through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone!
Go on Liverpool!
