Wow...I really can't believe we are here already, we have nearly reached our 150,000 milestone....
lets recap in June 2004, we celebrated our 50,000th post, then in December 2004 we topped the 100,000th post mark. Now in less than three months, we have recorded an amazing 73 users in a village at the same time, topped 7000 registered members mark, topped 7000 threads and now we are fast approaching 150,000 posts..
So whats happened since our last milestone, unfortunately things has not been all sweetness and light. We have had antagonism between africans in the UK and those based in America..it is disappointing that some on both sides of the atlantic choose to forget the ethos of this village.
It is also very sad that we have had to lose some well established posters here, however we can never have a situation where individuals ASSume that they are bigger than this village.
On the plus side Village radio is beginning to find its feet, the quality of the input here has increased, and greatly enhanced by good insightful posters from America, africa and the Uk long may that mix continue..
I look forward to the next milestones 200,000 posts, 100 villagers record and 10,000 posters registered and 10,000 threads.....congratulations  BLACKNET VILLAGE

Congratulations Kungufu and the rest of the Village team.
I would regard being at work as an intellectual arena. However ive never worked in an all black company so this is the first time ive regulary been in an all black intellectual arena and it feels good- for real
Thanks for giving me the experience and long may it continue.
I'm keen to learn and learning all the time. There are some real knowledgeable people here.
As 'Sir Fredrick Black' said on this very thread "we as black people are just warming up"
...indeed we are.

@All just finished working but had to drop in and say boy big progress. Forward ever. Only one direction that counts....
Was reading a colleagues report from across the country which was just published and while I was going through the bibio lo and behold I saw blacknet and some articles he had taken.
I said look at that white boy from the shires taking use of our good thing.
All good though. Shows the word is getting out there and people of all kinds are learning where to come.

Forum: This is a very sad day to be approaching another Blacknet Landmark, I wish that in terms of All Africans everywhere I could say that the worse is over...
Unfortunately I now fear the worse, New Mental health Act, with more stringent powers to lock people up is on the way very soon, The ID card will almost certainly get passed and who knows what order stringent laws they will bring in to control the population... we are no longer sleepwalking into a facist state... We are running blindly towards it..
That said 7/7/05 demostrated the power of Blacknet Village at its best, the comoradre shared by Africans in the US, UK and Africa elsewhere was exceptional.. and shows that regardless of what people say UNITY is NOT dead in the Diaspora..
So what is the Challenges; well back in Dec 2004, we reached the milestones of 50,000 posts, we topped that landmark in Dec 2004 the same year by reaching 100,000 posts.. We surpassed our wildest dreams when earlier this year when we went passed the the 150,000 milestone...
Now despite Trolls, Facists and sideswipes from other forums, we are now approaching 200,000 posts on this forum...we've toped the 10,000 thread mark, we've surpassed 14,000 registered members..
Some say that our challenges come from the recent influx of European posters, and that they have too much influence here, some posters even argue that we should have the same knee jerk reaction experienced after 9/11... I disagree our biggest challenge is to fight to maintain and hold onto all those things that contribute to who and what we are...
With the passing of Luther Vandross it seems to me that unless we remind ourselves and our children of the values attributed to our culture, and those component bits that makes us collectively the great black people that we are...we will be forever lost in a foriegn land..
BB6 for all its faults shows us in plain view the danger we now face, a 40 year old smart intelligent who will literally sells himself and his dignity in order to be in with his Tory peers, Two black women (one African, one African Carribean) soo niave, totally without dignity or an idea of their blackness and finally a black boy, fiesty yes, but ultimately too stupid and too ignorant to ever amount to anything but 'jailbait' because he lacks discipline and common sense..
These people demostrate why spaces like Blacknet is important, it also demostrate what will happen to us if we do not fight to retain who we in a foriegn land, we will become like the people in BB6 worshipping everything WHITE, degrading ourselves to please WHITE even when they kick us in the teeth and sh*t on us...
Its time to PUT Black (the African personality) at the centre of our universe, ITS time to be LOUD & PROUD and stop concentrating on White trolls, or the number of Europeans here..
I'm saying that its TIME to ASSERT our BLACKNESS, stop treating BLACKNESS like a DIRTY WORD.. Its TIME to ASSERT our AFRICANESS, its collective values, its IDENTITY, its WORTH in the 21st Century and most of all to be PROUD of WHO we are regardless of where we STAND in the world..
Unless we start and start soon, the Derek's, Vanessa, Makosi and Science's of this world will soon become the norm of what is BLACK instead of the minority..do we really want that?
Time to stand up and REPRESENT people!!!!
