Over the course of 2007 BTC will be supporting and working in partnership with network members to mark the bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade on 25th March 1807. Together we will highlight and address the inequalities that exist as a result of slavery and promote community events. The BTC Network feels it is important to raise the awareness of slavery in all its forms and highlight those contemporary forms of slavery that still exist in the 21st Century.

How you can help
We require writers, articles and contributors to be published and displayed on http://www.breakingthechains.co.uk. Ideally we require between 500-1000 words. To better represent the wider community the theme/ topic is open and we welcome the thoughts and opinions of those wishing to contribute.

Suggested topics or theme:

• Classical Slavery
• Contemporary Slavery
• Ancient African Empires
• The psychological legacy of transatlantic slavery
• The cultural destruction of Africa
• The inequalities that exist as a result of slavery
• What role did Africa play
