greetings forum users and admin
Admin ..........I dont know if I have put this in the right place....please move it to the most appropriate place you feel is suitable for this request
I have just graduated from university and I now wish to punish myself further buy doing some 'independent' research into facilites provided for black people in need, especially black men (regardless of age)
this could be prisons, day centres, drop in centres, hospital wards, social services, community settings, care homes, palliative care, places of worship, voluntary organisations, schools, housing .......anywhere where black people use the services provided
all I require are the names of organisations which cater for the needs of black people..I will do the rest of the work
they can be in any town in england which have a sizable black community
birmingham london manchester etc..
any website adresses would be gratefully recieved. phone numbers etc...
for example a college freind of mine mentioned the franzt fanon centre in birmingham..NHS run organisation for black people...I have already contacted this organisation
I would be grateful for any information on any services provided for black people no matter how scanty the information seems, again in England as this is where I live.
I DONT WANT NAMES OF SERVICE USERS OR STAFF AS I AM NOT INTERESTED IN THAT LEVEL OF INFORMATION......PURELY AT AN ORGANISATIONAL LEVEL ONLY

Newstrat30. Would be helpful if you specificy what group of black men are you talking about those with learning disabilities, unemployed, ex offenders, young men at risk etc...
Also what did you graduate in as that might be helpful...

thanks for your post Fred
so not to prejudice the findings I deliberately left out my profession as I feel people will look for things suited to my profession, which I dont want
I wish the sender to be a broad minded as possible....
I have listed some examples of public organisations in the original post
during my time off site I have checked out a local organisation who help the african caribbean community near me, they have a strict NHS referral system and help black people both as inpatient and in the community (inreach and outreach service)
it could be a youth club, after school club, saturday school.....anything!!
I have checked out a resedential home for black elderley people, again local to me in london
Fred, it could be a drop in centre near you for example that provides a service, i.e befreinding, advocacy, abseloutely anything.....for black people, any age,
be as free as you want in your findings...all I ask is that it is in england...... thats the only constraint
I strictly do not need personal information, that is over and above my requirements.
just the name of the organisation and if they have a website, that would be a plus
pm me and I will do the rest!!

Newstart30 There is an agency called CONNEXIONS. Look them up on the web.They do a lot of work with black men and also have a good network of contacts. What about 100 Black Men of London or Nubeyond who have a whole heap of contacts with organisations which might be up your street.
There is New Initiatives in South London with is run by a brother called Pablo and they do developmental and support work with young brothers and sisters. Another project called X IT Project in South London that does development and support work for black youth at risk and they do good stuff.
If you want organisations around mental health speak to Kunjufu very nicely and he will no doubt talk you through the various organisations that deals with black men eg drug rehabilitation or prison rehabilitation etc.

From Boyhood to Manhood. They are based in Peckham (I cannot find the pamphlet I have) google them. This charity org mentor and keywork Black boys who have been or are on the verge of school exclusions.
