Keiton, aged 7, was first diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia but in the last month of treatment the disease turned into Acute Myeloidblastic Leukaemia and now he must have a Bone marrow Transplant.
Time is running out for Keiton and the only way to save his life is to go give blood directly to one of the clinics. We are looking for mixed race individuals to become a Bone Marrow donor for Keiton, as his tissue type is very unusual.
The potential donor must, like Keiton, have one black and one white parent and be aged between 18 and 40. If this sounds like you, and you would like to help Keiton, Call the National Blood Service to find your nearest clinic: 0845 7711711
Our next Drive/Clinics, working with the Anthony Nolan Trust, will be:
* Sunday 1st October, Time 11am till 3pm at the St. Edmunds Catholic Church, 115 Hertford Road, London N9 7EN
* Sunday 8th October, Time 1pm till 4pm at the Christian Life Fellowship, The Borough Hall, Royal Hill, London SE10 8RE
* Wed 11th October, Time 4pm till 7.30pm at Leopold Primary School, Hawkeshead Road, Harlesden, London NW10 9UR
* Thu 12th October, Time 5pm till 8pm at Katherine Road Community Centre, 254 Katherine Road, Forest Gate E7 8PN Go down and give some blood, PLEASE!
One of the procedures for removing the bone marrow stem cells is very simple and near on painless. A small needle will be placed in each arm and the blood is removed from you left arm and is passed through a machine which removes the Stem Cells and the blood is then passed back into your right arm. It will only take 2/3 hours out of your day to save Keiton’s life

Lives in my area as well... poor kids been all over the local paper for the past few weeks.
Note also that theres a NATIONAL (prepahs even international) crisis for African bone marrow donations, also African children in orphanages recive a hard time as there is a shortage of African parents looking to adopt.
To be honest I don't belive in blood, marrow and organ transplants.
Hope someone can help the kid though.

i think black people give more blood than any other race
i dont beleive that dont have a match yet, media is very powerful and and i reckon at least 60% pf blacks have given blood since his appeal
i smell a fish and it stinks to be honest, why is it always black people who are behind and failing some how
maybe he needs blood from a white doner
do white and black have seperate type blood?
if so , how they know its the black side thats needed? and what happens to the blood that dont match, cos you know the blood they take adds up..
in fact im againsts blood donation or organ doners or animal organs for that matter! its unethical and you never heard about jesus giving blood...
i beleive if its time to go...its time, why do doctors try to play God?
we here for a reason or a season...

Didn't think of that. It must be an issue for mixed race peoples needing another mixed race person to donate.

Used to be a Jehovas wittness, can see what you're saying. People pick up all sorts from blood and organ donors especially animal organs. Diseases, addictions even personality traits.
That's what got me stuck when I saw the article in the paper... A kid needs a donor and I don't believe in giving blood let alone marrow, if he was to ask me personally could I say no? He might die but I've got an opinion on giving blood that stops me from saving him.

Yeah.
Its human nature though. Someones hurt, you've got the knowledge/blood to save them, what do you do? If you could save a family member with a donation what would you do? Your part as a donor is just as shared as the doctor's ability to administer it are you playing god by saving said person? Or just doing something you feel is morally right?

Thats why I don't belive in mixed race marriages.
Those people go through so much confusion it can drive them mad, literally. They have no identity what so ever. Nothing against them as a people, in fact some of them take our cause more seriously than we do but theres a confusion that leaves them divided, sterotypical and just lost.
Its not right... especially when an African man or woman gets with a European its mostly because they feel disillusioned about their own culture and peoples and marry to escape. Still thinking along the lines of, ''black people can't do anything'' ''black people aren't this and that'', '''oh they aren't intellectual enough'' - ''We've never done anything of any worth'' totally falling for what is promoted by the state. I've sat with people in mixed relationships and have been able to play on their insecurities. Complaining abuot how people look at them when they walk down the street together when in reality its their insecurities making them weary of being looked at by others....
Mixed race peoples with African mothers are normally more rooted in that side than if their mothers were european, its to do with cromosones and a mothers affection for her child. Of course if the mother carries a hatred for herself for beign African you end up with another race of people a la South Africa who don't like themselves let alone their African half.

As the publicity that is being circulated clearly states "... We are looking for mixed race individuals to become a Bone Marrow donor for Keiton, as his tissue type is very unusual ...", then, as a matter of commonsense, I suggest that they begin their seach here.
That is the best place to start. Abusing Villagers will not assist this mixed race child. Other mixed race people may be able to. Simple.

This site will also harbour mixed raced individuals, individuals who may actually contain the one individual who could save the boys life.
A, you cant be that naive to not know that and

If you havent given blood yet, then please do asap.
Someone mentioned earlier we as a race give more blood than other races. Sadly the reality is the opposite. If you are black british you have a 1 in 100,000 chance of finding matching bone marrow. If you're mixed race i would imagine those stats get much worse.

why only black folks gotta give blood?
if it was majority black or mixed people performing the opperations , i would nt be such a sceptic.
how do you know that our black blood aint being given to whites or asains who need it instead of our own , and were left with not much for ourselves?

Keiton Knight
RIP Keiton Knight, beautiful brave little soldier passes away peacefully
From mum Paris: "My Angel, Keiton, passed away this morning; he went peacefully with everyone who loves him around him. God bless You all for all your love and support. Paris xx"
Many of us were introduced to Keiton’s story at the Gift of Life fundraising Ball in September 2006.
His Mother Paris and Uncle Warren warmed us with a heartfelt appeal that lead to an extremely productive and successful bone marrow campaign in his aid. Hundreds, possibly thousands of new recruits were added to the register thanks to this lovely, bright boy and the efforts of so many that came to his assistance by joining ‘KEITON’s ARMY’.
Despite the success of the appeal, a bone marrow match wasn’t found. Doctors then suggested a blood cord transplant and Keiton was due to have the precedure on January 5 this year.
However, just before Christmas, doctors delivered a further blow to his family, telling them once again, Keiton's cancer had returned, meaning the transplant could not go ahead.
Keiton was an incredibly bubbly, smiley and energetic child. Some of us had the honour of meeting him and admiring his beautiful, cheeky smile.
He was an exceptional young soul that excelled in tennis and violin playing. A true little soldier that, despite a painful illness, was always full of smiles, laughter and remarkable courage. He was aware of how cancer was affecting his life but he remained strong and hardly ever complained!
He was a special individual that, just like Brian Daley aka Dj Swing, brought people together and generated unmatched energy and community spirit. His experience makes us realise how important is to live life for the moment and fully appreciate our blessings as our time here isn’t promised.
Keiton touched many hearts and has made it possible for others to receive the ‘Gift of Life’ through the awareness raised and the number of new bone marrow donors that came forward to help him. His life is to be celebrated, not mourned.
He truly was always an angel… He might be smiling down from the ether now but his spirit will always be with us.
